Zark’s Fest made a fantastic comeback for 2023 after a three-year absence due to the pandemic, offering OPM music from today’s new music to the veteran and iconic performers we love.
The sizzling hot summer in the Metro is welcomed by one of the Philippines’ most popular burger chains, Zark’s Burger, who sizzled their famed jawbreaker patties in the Circuit Event Grounds Makati including the Philippines’ most popular performers today last May 13, 2023. Zark’s Fest is the second installment of the festival and would have been the 5th music event if it wasn’t for the pandemic that stopped the world.
All in different genres, the music line-up started at noon that day, with the music fans, or the “Zarkadas” enjoying the games and prices plus all the good food and booze around the event grounds.
The novenary Filipino pride group Ben&Ben headlined the carefully curated line-up and performed hits like “Araw-Araw,” “Kathang Isip,“ “Di Ka Sayang,” and “Pagtingin.”
Among the artists are OPM legends like Sandwich and Urbandub who schooled the crowd on what real rock and roll music are, The Itchyworms, who sang their famous karaoke/barkada tunes like “Ang Beer na To’”, and Ebe Dancel who sang his most famous solo tracks and songs from his Sugarfree days like “Hari ng Sablay”, all of these artists showing young generations of music why they are dubbed as icons.
Zack Tabudlorepresented the Gen Z crowd and their hugots who sang their hearts out and even serenaded a fan on stage with songs like “Nangagamba,” “Binibini,” “Paano”, and “Yakap” Among the line-up BINI, who is currently called the “Nation’s Girl Group” and stood for the rising P-Pop music, as well as a multitude of brilliant performers such as artists like Autotelic, Kiyo, Hey June, Eli, and Six The North Star, Lola Amour, and Any Name’s Okay also electrified the stage.
It wouldn’t be a complete burger music fest if we didn’t have Guinness World Book of Record holder, Kevin “Zarkman” Medina who easily demonstrated to the crowd how to finish, not just a jawbreaker burger but a WHOLE jawbreaker large meal in under 5 minutes. The record holder even shared how he centers and prepares himself whenever he’s up to take on the 5-minute food wipe-out challenge and shared the stage with the hungry music crowd, ready to take on the challenge with him.
It was a smooth and eventful Zark’s Fest comeback with the Filipino music fans showing that despite the West and K-Pop dominating the music scene today, we are still here as ever loyal to our own, standing and chillin’ in a dedicated OPM music line-up, enduring the hot summer noon until midnight, all the while enjoying good music, good company and some burgers on the side– a typical bayanihan/family event of the world’s dubbed best concert crowd.

Australian actor, Chris Hemsworth was in Manila to promote Netflix’s “EXTRACTION 2,” which is the sequel to the massive streaming app’s smash action flick “Extraction.”

Chris Hemsworth and the film’s director, Sam Hargrave, have flown to Manila for the Asia Pacific premiere of EXTRACTION 2, an action thriller film set to premiere on June 16th. It was their first trip to Manila, and they were greeted cordially by the locals at the press conference and red carpet screening of their film, as well as by celebrities, journalists, and fans from the region.

Just being here makes me happy. Chris thanked the crowd for their reception during the June 5 press conference. Sam was just as ecstatic to be back in the country, and he spoke highly of his follow-up film. Referring to the follow-up to one of Netflix’s most popular films, he exclaimed, “This is even bigger and larger and more exciting.”

Chris also described the craziest thing that he did for “Extraction 2,” which was to land a helicopter on a moving train.
“We look at each other, and we say, how can we push each other to do something that we will be proud of 10 years from now and try to make it memorable for the fans?” Sam explained.
“I certainly knew that Sam was going to recreate the action in a massive way and step it up a notch again. But what people won’t expect is the emotional journey and the relationships in the film,” Chris added.
Hundreds of Hemsworth’s devoted followers were given the opportunity to see and some lucky fans were able to speak with the actor. The fact that the event was attended by celebrities from both domestic and foreign, contributed to the evening’s glitz and excitement.
Chris portrays the role of Tyler Rake in the action movie “Extraction 2.” Tyler comes back as the Australian black operations mercenary after barely surviving the events of the first movie. This time, he is assigned another dangerous assignment, which is to rescue the wounded family of a brutal Georgian mobster from the prison where they are being imprisoned.

SAOSIN originated in Orange County, California in 2003. Since its inception, the band has released three studio albums, three extended plays (EPs), and eight singles. Their first EP, Translating The Name, became their ticket to success as it was greatly received by a generation of emo and post-hardcore rock fans in the US. As soon as its release, it immediately earned over 62,000 album sales. At present, SAOSIN has released a vinyl version of the said EP together with a special merch collection which has also immediately sold out after a few weeks!
In 2006, SAOSIN released its first full-length album, Saosin. The album is welcomed with good feedback from music critics and listeners. The first single, “Voices” was listed on the “Top 46 post-hardcore songs of the 2000s”, and the second single “You’re Not Alone” was listed on the Top 10 Essential Emo Power Ballads by the Alternative Press.
Their second studio album, In Search of Solid Ground, and third studio album, Along The Shadow, followed the success of their previous album and singles. Aside from sold-out albums, SAOSIN’s career soared as they went on consecutive tours from the US going all the way to Europe, Asia, and Australia. It was indeed a triumphant story since they are a band who started as front liners of other bands and then, they get to travel around the globe as they headline huge music festivals and do their solo shows.

On June 17, 2023, the talented cast of the Thai drama series “Cutie Pie” will be hosting their fan meeting in Manila, titled “CUTIE PIE: 1st FAN MEETING IN MANILA 2023” in Aliw Theater, Pasay City.
Directed by Aoftion Kittipat Jampa, the 12-episode “Cutie Pie The Series” revolves around two childhood friends – Lian and Kuea – who are pledged to each other in marriage by their families. While one of them is eager to explore their relationship, the other does not share the same sentiment until love’s arrow strikes their hearts.
“NuNew” Chawarin Perdpiriyawong plays the role of Kuea Keerati, an engineering student who’s passionate about music. Kuea wants his fiancé and family to think of him as agreeable and obedient, so he’s keeping the truth about his studies and music career from his family a secret. Playing as his fiance Lian Kilen Wang is “Zee” Pruk Panich. Lian is a mature and sophisticated man who manages his family’s business, including a popular nightclub. Although Lian doesn’t seem enthusiastic about their relationship, he still wants to marry Kuea out of family obligations.
NuNew and Zee are excited to meet their Filipino fans in an evening full of on-stage chemistry and play games on stage with lucky fans. After a three-year absence from live performances caused by the pandemic, Korea’s triple-threat entertainer Lee Seung Gi kept his promise and made a return that made Filo Airens feel like waking up in a promised dream.
The opening was very solemn. The team was able to pull up a VCR, a cue that led him on stage for his opening song, “The Dreamer’s Dream,” from his most recent album, “The Project.” For Airens, this is the album they cling to for comfort during the whole lockdown period. Lee Seung Gi greeted his Filipino Airens with “Mabuhay! It’s so good to see Filipino Airen and all my fans in the Philippines. Thank you very much! Sobrang na miss ko kayo! I am so honored to meet you guys at my live concert today, and I am very excited to see your passionate and warm welcome! We have been to Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, and Taiwan, and I think Manila is the best! You are the best!”
He explained that his first song is a bit emotional, but because of the fans’ warmest cheers, he felt more relaxed. It has been 4 years since he last came for his fan meeting, but last night was his first live concert, and he really wanted to visit the country as a singer, saying, “Life is better, right?”
The Law Café star checked his fans in every section, making sure they were able to see him. He shared that he had personal things to handle when he was in Korea and had this idea that he had to push for this live concert for his international fans, and seeing them enjoying it made him think he made a good decision, assuring them, “So sit and enjoy while I do my best.” This a cue for his second song, “Wind,” one of the fan favorites from his “And” album released last 2015.
All emotions were held as it was followed by “Return” from his “Forest” album released in 2012, where he was nominated for various awards such as the MAMA Award for Song of the Year and won the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Vocal Performance—Male and continued with “The Ordinary Man” where he said after, “I am singing a ballad, but I felt like singing rock songs because you are very energetic.” And “The song I just sang has a story of a man with a broken heart who lost his first love; as soon as I sang the first verse, you were shouting, Seung Gi Saranghe [drawing a loud cheer from the fans], and as you can see, we are a live band, right? I think they are affected by your energy because they’ve been upbeat, and I feel very nice right now!”
Lee Seung Gi was aware of the Filipino penchant for photography, and he teased that fans should only post videos in which he sounded the best. But the reality was, he sounded so outstanding in every one of them, with clear and clean high notes and runs! He explained that the first part of the concert expressed the different seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. And for the last 19 years, there have been so many seasons he spent doing different activities, and also, there have been so many memories he had to make with his fans, claiming “time flies so fast.”
Next year will be his 20th anniversary, and he announced that he will be collaborating with different artists, his seniors, and juniors, and they’ll be creating a strong album for the fans and hopefully a world tour. He promised he’d be back in Manila for sure! He shared, “I have been acting as a senior and have been doing different variety shows, and Filipinos love variety shows, so I am thinking maybe I could try and have variety shows here as well.”
Seung Gi, known as generous as he is, got to share an unreleased song with the fans and allow them to take video but begged not to upload it yet as it may be part of his 20th album. He worked together with Captain Planet [a Korean music production team consisting of members Lee Byeong Ho and Choi Soo Ji] on a song titled “I got to the wind that way” and left the stage after.
The dazzling balladeer went back and performed “Forest,” brought nostalgia, one of his most emotional songs, followed by “Circle,” where he set the energy of the whole New Frontier to the highest high while transitioning to “Like a Flower” from his 2019 album “Shadow” where he exudes a charisma of a true rockstar while raising the roof higher for “Losing My Mind,” an OST for his top-notch drama “My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho“where Airens went wild and even asked for one more! It was the ultimate fan service and probably the best of the night, where all positive energy was sustained!
Just in time after a quick rest, Lee Seung Gi sang the songs most of his fans loved from his variety show “Master in the House,” including a cover of Kim Kyung Ho’s “Forbidden Love,” which ignited his passion for singing and proved his worth. garnering 35 million combined views on all platforms and counting, Lee Seung Gi confessed that the team had no idea that people would love it that much, and Kim Kwang-seok’s “Even Though I Love You.” He also did not fail to include his 2006 song “Desire and Resent” a song that requires equal emotions as per Airens.
Known as South Korea’s “Triple Threat,” he is not only an exceptional singer and television host, but his hit dramas such as Brilliant Legacy, The King 2 Hearts, Gu Family Book, You’re All Surrounded, Hwayugi: A Korean Odyssey, Vagabond, Mouse, and most recently “The Law Café” established his domineering presence and proved his supreme passion and ever-unmatched artistry, making him one of the most well-known Korean actors of his generation.
Lee Seung Gi went back to the stage and performed his fan favorite “Delete”. He was able to express the VCR his team created and explain the past 19 years. All the things he experienced and the past he had were shown in the picture, as was what he planned for the future. He said the Philippines made him “nomo, nomo, nomo so much happy” before he went to sing “Music Time,” from his 2004 album “Dream of a Moth,” where he displayed the charisma an Airen and non-Airen would love, following with “Encore” and ending with his most loved song “Because you’re my woman.”
19 years after his debut, Lee Seung Gi is among the most respected entertainers in the industry. This global superstar made a significant contribution not just to the success of Korean music but also to the community. As announced, the proceeds from Lee Seung Gi’s concert will go to Operation Smile Philippines, with the hope that the show will bring children and their families greater pleasure.
From innumerable “Mahal kita Philippines,” and “Salamat Po,” Lee Seung Gi just proved how he is as a person and the Airens were pleased to see him forging his own way and living a life that brought him happiness – a real deal singer!

Ahead of his The Dreamer’s Dream – Chapter 2 show in Manila, South Korea’s triple threat entertainer Lee Seung Gi sat down with the press for an interview held in Market Market, Ayala Mall Taguig.
Lee Seung Gi greeted the press, and his fans present at the venue with “Mabuhay, Philippines! I’m Lee Seung Gi, and I am happy to be here in the Philippines and so, so glad to see all my fans in the Philippines. Thank you very much and thank you for coming.”
Donned in neutral ensembles, he answered questions from the press. He was asked if there was anything that stood out to him during his first visit last 2019 through the 2019 LEE SEUNG GI ASIA FANMEETING ‘VAGABOND VOYAGE‘. He answered, “I think the most memorable thing that the Filipino fans did was give me the warmest welcome,” followed by a loud welcome cheer from his fans present to see him, and he answered back with his Tagalog of “Maraming salamat po.” This a sequel to the next question of what other Filipino word he remembered from his last visit. He answered, “Mahal kita, and I really want to say this word, “Namiss ko kayo, Philippines! Thank you!” He also shared that he wants the fans to look forward to his live concert since in 2019 he went to the country for a fan meeting.
Sam Oh asked since the concert is called “The Dreamers Dream,” how he feels to be back in the country and essentially making the dream of Filipino fans happen to see him right now in the flesh. He wittily answered, “First of all, I think it’s very nice to see cultural communication between Korea and the Philippines by sharing K-pop, movies, and the music industry. I am grateful for [the fans] loving the current culture, and I am also expecting for me to have a music activity here in the Philippines as well in the future.”
Celebrating his 20th anniversary, the press asked him about being in the entertainment industry and being actively involved in various entertainment fields, what drives him to continuously explore new avenues, and if there’s another field he’d like to try. He responded, “Because I am already doing these things—filming, acting, and singing—at the moment, I wanted to make more effort to be close to my international fans and to be more productive on the upcoming projects that I have.”
One press unit also asked if there was a role he wanted to play but never had the chance to after the many roles he played. He said, “he wants to try taking on the role of a doctor, and shooting a romantic comedy in the Philippines could be good too.” When asked about plans to do a movie, he shared, “There are none as of the moment, but I already shot a movie called “The Big Family,” and we already finished filming, which will be released next year.”
Another unit asked if there was a plan to release an album anytime soon. He said, “Hopefully next year, we’re planning to release an album in commemoration of my 20th anniversary, featuring collaboration from artists and producers.” When asked about a distinct Lee Seung Gi song, he was very generous to give the crowd a piece from his song “Delete,” which delighted the whole crowd. It was a little taste of what fans would look forward to at the concert.
The press was also keen to ask what he wanted to say to his younger self; he shared “Don’t be afraid”. When I was young, I was really afraid of challenging myself and trying new things, but now I want to say, “Don’t be afraid.” “Try it out and try it on your own.” He also shared how he loved being in Ilocos a few months ago and, if, by chance, he wanted to take Bro Marble there and shoot. Bro Marble is a travel variety show that casts Lee Seung Gi, Yoo Yeon Seok, Lee Dong Hwi, Ji Suk Jin, Kyuhyun, Hoshi, and Joshua. He also shared how happy he is to reunite with Kang Ho Dong, his forever big brother, for Strong Heart.
Being present for nearly two decades, he shared his defining moments of the last two decades and his future plans. “So, I think the recent thing is because, after many things I had, now that I am in the new company and have a very new start, Fans constantly look for the content we made in Korea, but now we’re actually planning to go abroad and meet the fans and shoot what we have prepared for them.” He also answered how the industry shaped him, yet he’s not changed at all, he shared, when he gets used to doing something, a new trend may come in and that’s when he knows he needed to adapt. He wrapped up the press conference by giving a message to Philippine Airens.
“First of all is that I MISS YOU GUYS SO MUCH and I am really happy that I could meet you guys through this concert that I am having, and I’ve been joining and participating in different projects so I could meet you more often. So please wait for me and look forward to me. Thank you”
