David Foster and Friends Live At The Theatre At Solaire

Solaire Resort Entertainment City presents an unforgettable night with legendary hitmaker David Foster as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. “David Foster and Friends, Live at The Theatre at Solaire” is the first of its kind – an eight-show residency happening on March 21 to 26, 2023.

David Foster’s career has spanned over 4 decades which has garnered him the title of “THE HITMAN”, having written and produced many chart-topping songs that have propelled several artists to star status and have gone down the music industry’s history as legends, such as Whitney Houston, Madonna, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Bublé.

He has created culture-defining soundtracks for blockbuster films including Joel Schumacher’s coming-of-age motion picture St. Elmo’s Fire, James Bridges’ 1980 flick Urban Cowboy, and Mick Jackson’s The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston for her acting debut. He’s also the genius behind timeless holiday tunes that have become the anthem of the season like Josh Groban’s “Noel”, Michael Bublé’s “Christmas”, Celine Dion’s “These Are Special Times”, Rod Stewart’s “Merry Christmas Baby”, and Andrea Bocelli’s “My Christmas”.

His record-breaking work in the industry awarded him 16 Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and Golden Globe award, 3 Oscar nominations, and the famous star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame to state a few. He ventured into television as a judge for Asia’s Got Talent for 3 seasons and for the first season of Chinese station Hunan TV’s World’s Got Talent. Foster’s popularity in Asia proves to be unmatched with sold-out shows at every stop of his David Foster & Friends Asia Tour.

In recent years, the world-renowned entertainer has toured across the United States to stage various performances of his show “An Intimate Evening with David Foster” some of which have been broadcasted on television across the country. He returns to Manila for a special 8-show visit as part of Solaire’s 10th-anniversary festivities where fans and the audience can expect to hear some of his greatest hits sung and interpreted by his guest artists.

Together with David, show-goers will also hear singer and actress Katharine McPhee who became a household name after her successful run on the 5th season of American Idol. Her first single, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/My Destiny,” debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Hot Singles Sales chart, while her 2007 self-titled album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 propelled by the gold-certified single, “Over It”. As an actress, she starred in the spy drama SCORPION (2014-2018) as ‘Paige Dineen’, and as one of the leads in the award-winning musical series SMASH (2012-2013), executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Her latest starring role is in the Netflix comedy series, Country Comfort (2021). In Spring 2018, Katharine made her Broadway debut as ‘Jenna’ in the hit musical Waitress, featuring music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles.

Another artist joining Foster is Pia Toscano who was one of the frontrunners on American Idol’s Season 10 run for her powerhouse voice and head-turning looks. Toscano performed alongside Jennifer Lopez in her Vegas Residency, “All I Have”, and regularly tours with David Foster and Andrea Bocelli. Pia released her first album, “I’m Good” with originally written music including a collaboration with Usher. She’s headlined her own show in Las Vegas which was filmed as a PBS special and has released a musical film entitled “1660 Vine”.

Also joining McPhee and Toscano is Daniel Emmet who appeared on America’s Got Talent with his spellbinding and commanding operatic voice. His wide range of expression spans musical genres from rock to pop, to opera, all the while singing in seven languages. Emmet released his acclaimed single “True Reflection” which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Classical Chart and has headlined shows in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace, T-Mobile Arena, Paris Las Vegas, and Westgate Las Vegas. He has toured with Marie Osmond, and most recently returned to America’s Got Talent this past season for a viral performance as the singing voice of Simon Cowell for the act of artificial intelligence company Metaphysic. Daniel regularly tours with David Foster and Katharine McPhee and recently held his highly anticipated new concert special “Daniel Emmet & Pia Toscano, Simply the Best” at the iconic International Theatre at Westgate Las Vegas.

“David Foster and Friends, Live at The Theatre at Solaire” will also feature some of the most prolific Filipino voices showcasing the distinct and world recognized Pinoy showmanship to an already incredible performance lineup. The Philippines’ Concert King Martin Nievera will join the hitmaker on stage every show, while Asia’s Phoenix Morissette enchants with her voice from March 21 to 22 and March 24 to 26 at the 8PM shows.

  • OneRepublic put up a remarkable show in Manila

OneRepublic put up a remarkable show in Manila

    Courtesy of Wilbros Live

OneRepublic, an American pop rock and Grammy-nominated band, returned to Manila last Thursday, February 23, 2023 for their first solo concert in nearly 10 years.

Successful Big Dome comeback! After Canadian singer Jessia took the stage and played some of her own songs, including “But I Don’t,” “One of the Guys,” “Nobody Hates You,” and “I’m Not Pretty.” One Republic took the stage and opened their set with “Secrets,” the band’s second hit off of their sophomore album, 2009’s Waking Up studio album, followed by another song from the same album, where Ryan [Frontman] tweaks some lyrics, “Where I’ve been for the past few years or so, from Paris to Manila to Colorado” from “Good Life.”

Ryan got the chance to address the audience before going on to the band’s third song, saying “We absolutely love, love it here in the Philippines. We’ve been coming here since, I think, 2009? And this building has a lot of history; it’s a sacred place that I don’t think exists anywhere else in the world. We’ve played in about 90 countries, and if people ask me in interviews — and you can look this up on the internet — what country loves music the most, I always say “The Philippines.” “You guys feel music like no other country on the planet; you can sing better than anyone. It’s been 3 years; it’s been a long time since that weird virus, but now that we’re over it, we can hang out together. Let’s have an incredible evening.” “Thank you for showing up tonight, Manila!” He introduces the next song as the second song they ever put out and a song that kept them together as a band. They performed “Stop and Stare,” followed by their lead single off their fifth studio album, “Human,” “Rescue Me.”

The band, which started in Colorado Springs, has kept their upbeat approach and huge ball of energy. They haven’t wasted any time going from one song to the next. They took off with “Wherever I Go” and glided to a soft landing on “Love Runs Out.”

Ryan went back to talking to the crowd, introducing their next set. He explained that they will be playing most of their hits. He said they’ve been a band for 16 years, and he’s also been writing songs for hundreds of other artists, naming everyone from Taylor Swift [he even sang a piece of Welcome to New York] to Paul McCartney to Ed Sheeran to Lil Nas X, Beyoncé, and LANY. He also bragged about his family living in the Philippines for the last 30–40 years, telling him that the Philippines sang better than any country in the world. “Nobody sings better than the people in the Philippines.” He also said that in 16 years, they have done mostly OneRepublic songs, but in Manila, they will play a concert inside a concert, a cue for a medley of songs starting from Beyoncé’s love letter to Jay-Z, “Halo.” Here, he took the opportunity to command his crowd as a master conductor for an arena of choirs as he let Manila participate with him in singing the highs and lows of this song, and it sounded pleasingly beautiful.

He also highlighted how “Rumor Has It” began for Adele. He also said that it is impossible to predict which song will be a success during the composition process. He shared that while writing “Apologize,” he didn’t have the idea; he was just writing a song for a bunch of girls who broke his heart in high school—these 2 or 3 girls that “destroyed” him in high school and college—while moving us to the most played song of 2022, Lil Nas X’s “That’s What I Want” to “Sucker,” where lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tedder hyped up the crowd by going off stage and walking towards the audience towards the end of the song.

The crowd stayed just as interested until “Lose Somebody” by Kygo and OneRepublic and “I Ain’t Worried,” the second and final singles from the Top Gun: Maverick (2022) soundtrack, came on.

OneRepublic played a wide variety of instruments, including the cello, violin, acoustic guitar, and xylophone. Occasionally, Tedder would take to the piano, as he did for a more mellow and stripped-down rendition of their 2007 smash hit “Apologize.” It went to number one in sixteen countries with their first album, Dreaming Out Loud, and got them a Grammy nomination. Here, they turned the audience into a massive choir, orchestrated by Ryan himself, giving everyone chills and confirming, “This is by far the best choir we had out of 45 countries.”

The undying energy was sustained all throughout the night, as the band played one song after another without even stopping to take a breath. The band ended the night by performing their popular songs “I Lived,” “Counting Stars,” and “Lose Myself,” giving their Filipino fans an ultimate performance to remember.

The energy given by OneRepublic left their crowd wanting more and proved that they are worth the wait. Tedder said, “It’d be a dream to perform here two to three nights in a row, even better.” OneRepublic was in the country last October 2019 for the International Justice Mission, joining their fight against slavery. The voice, energy, talent, and magic they possess on stage are just incredible. We are left enthusiastic about this band; we can’t help but want more sing-alongs with them.

  • As always, Backstreet Boys are larger than life.

As always, Backstreet Boys are larger than life.

The legendary Backstreet Boys made their way back to the Philippines as part of their sold-out DNA World Tour. It had been almost four years since the group’s previous visit to the country.

The Backstreet Boys started the event off with “I Wanna Be With You” from 1996, making good use of the diamond stage’s steps, ramps, lighting, and numerous giant LED screens. Songs like “The Call” and “Don’t Want You Back” kept the band on the move.

A little over two-hour setlist that addressed every part of their career included more than thirty songs. Unlike other musicians who try to brush over their past work, these guys gave their all to the cheesy hits from the ’90s and ’00s that made them famous. It was nice to hear them played on its original arrangement. Their renditions of “We’ve Got It Goin’ On,” their debut single, “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart),” and “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” were so full of excitement and pride that they transported the audience back to their own childhoods.

The tempo was perfect for maintaining excitement. The newer material didn’t detract from the overall nostalgic vibe of the show, and I was happy to hear the favorites that I had played on repeat in my room as a preteen.

It’s not usually easy to get a group of five men to sing songs they released 27 years ago and still reach the same notes, but the Backstreet Boys pulled it off, with genuinely exceptional vocals from all five of them throughout the event. Whether it was Nick’s legendary singing, Brian’s beautiful falsetto, or the fantastic singing of AJ, Howie, and Kevin, the entire performance was a vocal masterclass, demonstrating the band’s unparalleled skill at producing harmonious vocal blends.

They not only sang their hearts out, but they also exhibited the comedic side of themselves. The audience watched as AJ and Kevin changed their costumes during the game they were playing. When AJ and Kevin threw their clothes to the crowd who was waiting for them, some lucky audience members were able to take something home with them.

When they celebrated Brian Littrell’s 48th birthday together with their banters while making fun of their ages, it was pretty telling how they are buddies beyond the shows and global tours that they do together.

The Backstreet Boys, if you haven’t seen them live, put on one heck of a show. Kevin and AJ prove to be a powerful double act, and their witty repartee with one another is just as entertaining as the album’s outstanding musical selections and impressive dance moves. The Mall of Asia Arena was put to good use with impressive staging and striking lighting that complements the incredible sound.

The Backstreet Boys’ 27-year reign at the top is due in no small part to their consistent high quality as performers. The performance they put on is larger than life in every sense of the phrase; it is polished to perfection, hilarious, and of the highest quality. On any other night, it would have been an unforgettable experience, but with the added depth of feeling, it becomes something you won’t soon forget. The boys’ stunning vocals and charisma onstage make them just as impressive today as they were back in the ’90s. Regardless matter how much I appreciated the band before the show, I came away from it appreciating them even more than I had before.

  • Westlife Hailed Manila Loudest Crowd in their Wild Dreams Tour

Westlife Hailed Manila Loudest Crowd in their Wild Dreams Tour

February 20-21, 2023 – Westlife made their triumphant return to the Philippines as they held their two-day concert as part of their Wild Dreams Tour at the Araneta Coliseum. Presented by Wilbros Live, the sold-out shows made a big noise – literally and figuratively – even the band couldn’t help but acknowledge it.

On the 2nd show, Nicky revealed, “On the last tour, you guys here at the Araneta Coliseum were the loudest of the entire tour, so we have that on record. The Philippines wins!” Scanning the crowd as they cheered enthusiastically, he continued, “And then last night, you smashed that record and now you’re the loudest on this tour!”

The Irish quartet, composed of Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne, took the country by storm as early as 1999 with their eponymous debut album skyrocketing to the top of the charts, their songs like “Swear It Again”, “Fool Again” and “Seasons in the Sun” becoming household favorites among Filipinos. Since then, they’ve come back again and again to the Philippines.

During their Twenty Tour in 2019, Westlife also held two-day sold-out shows at the Big Dome. Now, almost four years after, their renewed yet unrelenting energy was palpable as they took over the stage like it was 2000 all over again. The crowd sang passionately to their songs, making the whole concert felt like a massive karaoke.

Wild Dreams Tour is Westlife’s flashiest show yet – it had flames, fireworks, four colossal LED screens and just the perfect mix of their greatest hits in one setlist. The show blasted off with “Starlight”, “Uptown Girl” and “When You’re Looking Like That”, and the audience were on their feet, singing their hearts out. Really, it was a marvel to hear the relentlessly unified chorus especially during “Fool Again”, “If I Let You Go” and “My Love”.

“The passion, love and support you show Westlife for more than twenty years now make us feel so proud. We always feel so welcome whenever we come here to this wonderful country. We hope to continue meeting you all and performing for you all for a long time to come,” Mark said. He just recently came back to performing onstage after having to miss some shows in the tour because of pneumonia. In Manila, he was on top of his game, hitting high note after high note, unrestrained.

As a special part of this tour, Westlife did an ABBA medley which included “I Have a Dream”, a song they made a famous cover of in their 1st album. They also performed a rarity known as “I Lay My Love on You”, which they don’t really sing much during their concerts.

The lads were in high spirits and in good humor at that, too. Upon spotting a sign that said “I chose you over the Backstreet Boys”, they asked the person holding it up to come to the stage for a commemorative photo. The American boyband was also in the country, at the MOA Arena on the same day of their 1st show.  They even sang a snippet of “I Want It That Way” as a bonus.

Another high point of the evening was the back-to-back stage for “Seasons in the Sun” and “World of Our Own” which were notably some of their best hits. The atmosphere took a more solemn turn with “Flying Without Wings” and their final song “You Raise Me Up”.

As a longtime Westlife fan, I always find it amazing how every time they perform here, they still have something new to offer their fans. Even their classic songs begin to sound brand new when they perform with such immense energy, their powerhouse vocals thriving as always. Westlife has been a band for 24 years and yet they still consistently outdo themselves during their concerts. That, by itself, is a reason for me to want to see them again and again. I saw them for two nights this time, and I found myself easily enjoying both shows. It felt great to be part of a crowd of thousands who are fiercely passionate about their music.  ‘Til the next Westlife show!

  • SB19’s JOSH CULLEN reinvents himself as a Pop Star with debut single “WILD TONIGHT

SB19’s JOSH CULLEN reinvents himself as a Pop Star with debut single “WILD TONIGHT

Josh Cullen explores Victorian themes and vampire-inspired imagery in this propulsive, edgy banger!

SB19’s JOSH CULLEN steps out on his own as a solo artist inspired by neo-gothic elements and Victorian motifs. The Filipino pop/hip-hop star is ready to make headlines with the release of “WILD TONIGHT,” his new single under Sony Music Entertainment.

    Josh Cullen

Packing a punch with innovative production and trap-laden beats, JOSH CULLEN’s debut offering is about letting loose and breaking free from the ties that bind you.

According to the talented artist, the song gives him the opportunity to take ownership of his craft. “The song is edgier and more provocative, and it’s a true reflection of my own personal style and creative vision,” Cullen adds. “Overall, I feel excited and fulfilled to be taking this journey of growth and discovery.”

Written and produced by JOSH CULLEN himself with Ocho, The Bullet, “WILD TONIGHT” combines elements of EDM, pop, and hip-hop with a dash of vampire slice. Josh initially thought of making a banger that people can enjoy, whether clubbing or chilling alone. “WILD TONIGHT” is the result of this artistic pursuit: a pulse of liberating joy that reveals a facet of Cullen’s personality beyond celebrityhood and public perception.

“First of all, it’s all me,” he asserts. “While I love working with my bandmates and creating music as a group, this solo project has given me the chance to showcase my true self.”

Josh acknowledges that he is heavily involved in the creative process, from brainstorming and refining music ideas to writing lyrics and composing melodies, and even getting himself into co-producing the material with his cousin.

“I make sure that it aligns with the way I want it to be,” the young multi-hyphenate shares. “I take pride in the fact that I’m the driving force behind my own creative vision. I have the trait of being a control freak. When I have an idea, I want it to be executed exactly as I envisioned it, to the point where I almost feel like I’m ‘meddling’ with the different teams that work with me. But I consider myself fortunate and grateful because they were extremely understanding and supportive of my artistic endeavors.”

Apart from the music-making aspects of the track, Josh also oversees the choreography and creative direction for the music video of “WILD TONIGHT,” a brooding visual spectacle that pushes the boundaries of his work. The music video takes an inside look at the lifestyle of a rich vampire royalty inspired by the character of Nosferatu. Known for its immortality, the vampire character was shown in different incarnations: from his early years living in a Victorian mansion to enjoying the modern club life like every human does.

The MV also features cameo appearances by members of various P-Pop groups such as KAIA, 1st. One and DIONE.

Collaborating with a handful of trusted people for his visuals, the lead rapper of SB19 accomplishes something that is uniquely his: a captivating character that is equal parts dark and light, affirming his position as a chameleonic star with a sinister edge and thought-provoking ideas.

JOSH CULLEN’s “WILD TONIGHT” is out on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. The music video for “WILD TONIGHT” will drop at 7 p.m. on February 24, 2023 (Friday).

  • A Special Meeting with Park Jinyoung: What to Expect

A Special Meeting with Park Jinyoung: What to Expect

You waited for him, and now, Park Jinyoung is coming to meet you.

It’s been a while since GOT7’s Park Jinyoung graced the Philippine concert stage. Although his return to Manila would be different from past meets with Philippine IGOT7s because he will be performing on his own this time, the singer-actor will undoubtedly offer nothing but the best moments and memories with his fans in the 2023 PARK JINYOUNG FANCONCERT in MANILA: RENDEZVOUS—his first solo event in the Philippines—on February 26 at the New Frontier Theater.

READ: GOT7’s Park Jinyoung to Meet Filipino Fans in February 2023

Fans can purchase tickets for the show at TicketNet locations and online at www.ticketnet.com.ph. Therefore, before the big day arrives, let us offer you a preview of what might happen in that secret meeting between you and him.

    Park Jinyoung

A Celebration of a Decade (and more) with Park Jinyoung

Before joining GOT7, Park Jinyoung captured our hearts as Jung Ui-bong in Dream High 2, which aired on KBS in 2012. In the same year, he formed JJ Project with then-fellow trainee Jay B (previously JB). In 2014, together with Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom, he made his debut in GOT7. The rest, as they say, is history.

With a long career as both an actor and singer, it is only fitting that there be a celebration for the star who has grown before our eyes over the years. The 2023 PARK JINYOUNG FANCONCERT: RENDEZVOUS tour honors the singer-actor’s decade-long (and longer) career by reflecting on his career trajectory from his early work as Jung Ui-bong to his outstanding performance as Yoo Ba-bi in Yumi’s Cells.

Bear witness to his solo performances —and probably a GOT7 medley?

It goes without saying that we cannot honor Jinyoung’s ten-year career without also reflecting on his musical endeavors. And what is the best way for doing this? Watch him perform his solo songs that reflect his evolution as a performer, and we might see him perform a GOT7 medley, as he did at the Bangkok stop of the fanconcert tour.

    To Jinyoung, from Ahgases.

  • Song Hye-kyo is ready for revenge in the Glory Part 2 trailer.

Song Hye-kyo is ready for revenge in the Glory Part 2 trailer.

The story of a tragic quest for revenge continues in “The Glory Part 2,” coming to Netflix on March 10th.The question of whether or not Moon Dong Eun will eventually achieve her glory.

    Courtesy of Netflix

The main trailer and poster for The Glory part 2 have been released. This event will signal the beginning of Dong Eun’s vengeance, which she has been plotting her entire life to carry out.

The main poster captivates viewers’ eyes with Dong-eun’s chilling words: “Welcome to my hell.” The perpetrators of Dong-eun’s childhood violence and their other victims, who have become entangled in the web of vengeance spun by Dong-eun, stand in a trumpet flower-covered forest that alludes to the Garden of Eden – the symbol of good and evil. This picturesque image piques viewers’ curiosity about what will happen to the band of victims who have decided that they will no longer tolerate the pain inflicted by the perpetrators.

Moon Dong-eun, played by Song Hye-kyo, is seen in the trailer plotting her next move and facing Park Yeon-jin, who was formerly her tormentor and is portrayed by Lim Ji-yeon.

While they were in high school, Yeon-jin and a group of her wealthy friends were mean to Dong-eun. They abused her both mentally and physically throughout the ordeal. But, even now that they are adults, they do not feel any regret for the things that they did while they were students.

It would appear that Dong-spiteful eun’s plan is becoming more sinister as she works toward inflicting psychological suffering on Yeon-jin.

The unveiled main trailer captures tense scene after tense scene, without a single shot to overlook. The shamelessness of the perpetrators who know no guilt or remorse, but rather doubt each other in their blind pursuit of their own footing, make the viewers’ blood boil. All eyes are on whether Dong-eun will get her revenge as the trailer implies that the victims face challenges. The Glory Part 2 invites the viewers worldwide to wonder whether she has finally found her ‘glory’ after her lifetime revenge has settled.

With the release of the main poster and trailer placing it at the center of attention, Part 2 of The Glory will be available on March 10, only on Netflix.

  • Regino dedicates his self-composed song “Idolo” to April Boys fans

Regino dedicates his self-composed song “Idolo” to April Boys fans

Singer-songwriter JC Regino, the only son of hitmaker “Idol” April Boy Regino, collaborates with April Boy’s two brothers Vingo and Jimmy in releasing the latest single under GMA Music titled ‘Idolo.’

JC wrote the song six months after his father passed away, but he wasn’t able to finish it. Then after his birthday last year, he was missing his dad so much, and he remembered the song. That’s when everything came to him, and he was able to finish the song in September 2022.

According to JC, he wrote ‘Idolo’ to give thanks to his dad’s fans for the neverending love and support they’ve given and shown to the April Boys, that without them, there would have been no April Boys. He feels that the fans/supporters deserve to have a song dedicated to them.

Tune in to JC Regino and the April Boys ‘Idolo’ which will be available on all digital streaming platforms worldwide on February 24.

  • Netflix Shares Second Trailer and Poster for Kill Boksoon

Netflix Shares Second Trailer and Poster for Kill Boksoon

Kill Boksoon is another amazing Korean film to be released on Netflix. Since it will make its world premiere at the 73rd International Film Festival in Berlin, it is sure to be a hit. In recent years, Korean films and dramas have established solid footings in international markets and won widespread acclaim. The director and cast of Kill Boksoon, from all appearances, will be welcome additions to the canon of excellent Korean entertainment already in existence.

It’s not only that there have been better thriller films released recently. Next to the horror genre, this one has experienced the most obvious progress in terms of plot, directing, and camerawork. Kill Boksoon’s cast and gory plot are meant to contribute to the genre’s ascent.

The released second trailer explicitly portrays Boksoon’s dual life as an ordinary mom and an A-list killer, showing strongly contrasting scenes of her grocery shopping to sharp transition into her life as an assassin backed by suspenseful and intense BGM.

Gil Boksoon using weapons from axes to long swords, glass cups, ropes, guns, etc., to fight her opponents provide a tease into the dynamic action sequence that will take place in the film.

Meanwhile, the appearance of characters Han Hee-sung (Koo Kyo-hwan), a killer who is unrecognized as an A-list, and Cha Min-hee (Esom), Cha Min-kyu’s younger sister and director of MK Ent, adds spice to the plot and doubles its tension.

The second poster revealed along with the trailer shows Gil Boksoon (Jeon Do-yeon) holding a bloody ax in one hand as if she had just completed “work” she had been commissioned to do, and on the other, a bag of groceries as if she had gone grocery shopping like any other loving mother. Gil Boksoon’s items that hint at her ‘double life,’ as seen from the second poster, spark curiosity about which path she’ll take as she stands at the crossroads of her career as a professional killer and her responsibilities as a mom.

Jeon Do-yeon portrays Gil Boksoon in Netflix’s Kill Boksoon. Famous Korean actress Do-yeon won the Best Actress award at the 60th Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Secret Sunshine. The actor was also the first Korean to win an award in this category at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. You are My Sunshine and Untold Scandal are only two of the movies where she shined. In addition to these, she also appeared in the 2021 suspense film Emergency Declaration, which premiered at Cannes that year.

Kill Boksoon has viewers worldwide focused with its star ensemble cast from Jeon Do-yeon to Sul Kyung-gu, Kim Si-A, Esom, and Koo Kyo-hwan. The production is spearheaded by Director Byun Sung-hyun known for his stylish directing, unrivaled character narrative, and solid storytelling.

In the movie, Koo Kyo-hwan, who is known for his role in Parasite, plays Gil Boksoon’s rival. Gil Boksoon’s bosses are played by E Som, who is known for his role in Samjin English Company Class, and Sul Kyung-gu, who is known for his role in Kingmaker. The actor Kang Soo-yeon is also in the movie, and he was in the Netflix movie Jung E, which came out in January. The actor Hwang Jung-min, who will be in Netflix’s Narco-Saints in 2022, will also have a cameo in the movie. Byung Sung Hyun is in charge of the movie. He is best known for making The Merciless and the political thriller Kingmaker, both of which came out in 2022.

  • Barbie Almalbis reunites with Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle for a 25th Anniversary concert

Barbie Almalbis reunites with Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle for a 25th Anniversary concert

Barbie Almalbis is set to perform some of the most notable hits of her career in three separate sets.

Filipino alt-rock icon Barbie Almalbis celebrates her 25th year in the music industry with a concert chronicling her career as an artist who helped build Pinoy rock into what it is today: borderless and constantly evolving, shattering the assumption that the movement is “a Man’s Man’s World.”

Aptly titled Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis, the show will reunite two of her supergroups, Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle for a special moment filled with vigor, nostalgia, and appreciation. Almalbis will be performing some of the biggest and most notable hits of her career in three separate sets: as a frontwoman of the aforementioned bands, and as a solo artist who managed to make a name for herself.

“While this is truly a dream for me, it was GNN Entertainment Productions who first believed it could happen and conceptualized the show,” the Tabing Ilog hitmaker reveals. “We reached out Ricci Gurango, Franklin Benitez, Rommel de la Cruz, Wendell Garcia, and Kakoy Legaspi, and we’re delighted that they were all excited to do it too. Ricci, who now lives in the US, is coming home to the Philippines for the show.”

    Barbie Almalbis

Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis was conceived last year to honor the award-winning singer-songwriter’s contribution to OPM, and to celebrate her staying power with anthems that proved to be impactful to listeners of all ages.

“I’m just so excited to play alongside some of my old friends, who also happen to be some my favorite musicians,” Almalbis shares in an official press statement. “We have so many great memories, making music, touring, and growing up together. They’ve taught me so much over the years. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity to jam with all of them on the show. I’m also looking forward to sharing the stage with many other artists I admire.”

The event is set to take place at 123 Block in Mandala Park on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 2 p.m. onwards. It will also feature performances by some of the country’s finest acts, including Sandwich, Gab Alipe of Urbandub, Clara Benin, I Belong To The Zoo, Kai del Rio, and Bird.

Almalbis also attributes her success as a musician, a woman, and a person of influence to her team’s dedication and hard work.

She adds, “I’m so grateful to be still playing, making music, and enjoying it a lot. It helps that I’m not doing it alone: my husband, who also loves music, helps me, especially during times when I find it hard to write. He’s a constant sounding board for ideas. Our daughter Stina has been joining in a lot lately too. I’m also so grateful for an excellent team: our manager Tommy, our road manager Morris, and the band: Karel, Nikko, and Jonard. And of course, the one who holds the whole thing together. So much of my career was something I didn’t plan, so I always do my best to look to God and follow where he takes me. Music is such a gift; I’m praying I get to do it until I’m old and gray.”

Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis is presented by GNN Entertainment Productions, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment, Backspacer Records, JB Music, Nova Wellness Store, and 123 Block.

Tickets to the show are available for purchase starting February 13 (Monday) at 6pm via TicketMelon.

Variety and reality programs are among the most popular forms of entertainment in Korea, and it’s been great to see non-Korean viewers on Netflix fall in love with K-Content enthusiasts and learn about these groundbreaking shows. In 2023, Netflix will double the number of Korean reality programs it has made available since 2022, from four to eight. Korean reality shows on Netflix cover a wide variety of genres, from action to romance to zombies.

“One of the unique characteristics of our unscripted shows is that, unlike TV broadcasters that air an episode each week, the production of our entire season is complete before the drop. This enables us to deliver higher quality and provide localized subtitles, as well as dubbing in some countries, so that viewers in over 190 countries can enjoy the show at the same time.

The extremely grueling Physical: 100 is currently #2 in our Global Top 10 Non-English TV series, and is featured in the Top 10 in 62 countries worldwide. We are just two weeks from finding out the winner.
