SAOSIN Live in Manila in March 2023

Letโ€™s set off our emo hearts and prepare to bang our heads to the tune of the tracks of one of the most sought-after American rock bands, SAOSIN, as they head to the Philippines with a massive solo tour!

PULP Live World together with Skesh Entertainment proudly announces SAOSIN ASIA TOUR 2023 LIVE IN MANILA happening on March 26, 2023, at Skydome, SM City North EDSA. This show is a trip down memory lane and an experiential chronicle of the bandโ€™s epic journey in the music industry as we witness them perform all their albums and hits live at this special one-night show in Manila!

    SAOSIN

SAOSIN originated in Orange County, California in 2003. Since its inception, the band has released three studio albums, three extended plays (EPs), and eight singles. Their first EP, Translating The Name, became their ticket to success as it was greatly received by a generation of emo and post-hardcore rock fans in the US. As soon as its release, it immediately earned over 62,000 album sales. At the present, SAOSIN has released a vinyl version of the said EP together with a special merch collection which has also immediately sold out after a few weeks!

In 2006, SAOSIN released its first full-length album, Saosin. The album is welcomed with good feedback from music critics and listeners. The first single, “Voices” was listed on the โ€œTop 46 posthardcore songs of the 2000sโ€, and the second single “You’re Not Alone” was listed on the Top 10 Essential Emo Power Ballads by the Alternative Press.

Their second studio album, In Search of Solid Ground, and third studio album, Along The Shadow, followed the success of their previous album and singles. Aside from sold-out albums, SAOSINโ€™s career soared as they went on consecutive tours from the US going all the way to Europe, Asia, and Australia. It was indeed a triumphant story since they are a band that started as front liners of other bands and then, they get to travel around the globe as they headline huge music festivals and do their solo shows.

In 2023, SAOSIN is set to conquer Asia, including Manila as one of their stops, with a gigantic solo show that will surely trigger nostalgia in the hearts of their long-time fans. Singing all their albums and hits, cover to cover, SAOSIN members Anthony Green (Vocals), Beau Burchell (Guitars), Chris Sorenson (Bass), and Alex Rodriguez (Drums), invite all Filipino emo and rock fans to join them in this one-night special show.

  • SB19 and NOBITA put their own spin on The Eraserheadsโ€™ iconic anthems

SB19 and NOBITA put their own spin on The Eraserheadsโ€™ iconic anthems

To celebrate The Eraserheadsโ€™ reunion concert last night, Sony Music Philippines artists released their revamped versions of โ€œChristmas Partyโ€ and โ€œMagasinโ€

To commemorate the success of The Eraserheadsโ€™ reunion concert last night, top OPM acts such as SB19 and NOBITA have put their own unique spin on the supergroupโ€™s beloved classics.

Released today under Sony Music Entertainment, the revamped versions honor the timeless appeal of Eheadsโ€™ music while giving it a more contemporary flavor that resonates with the streaming audience.
P-Pop Kings SB19 captures the spirit of the holidays with their own take on โ€œChristmas Party,โ€ a song off The Eraserheadsโ€™ fourth studio album, Fruitcake. Turning the original into a festive banger, the five-member boyband incorporates elements of dance-pop, R&B/hip-hop, and modern funk into the mix while carrying with them the vibe and energy of the trackโ€™s nostalgic past.

โ€œThe Eraserheads is one of the most influential bands of our time,โ€ says SB19 in a statement. โ€œWe retained everything thatโ€™s great about the song but made sure to add our own creative direction in terms of the overall sound. Thereโ€™s a balance of artistic liberty and compromise in the way we approach the material, and weโ€™re definitely happy with how it turned out.โ€

Stell of SB19 adds, โ€œwe feel honored that we were chosen to recreate the song. Our tour schedule was really tight, but gladly we were still able to push through with it before leaving LA. Recording in a different country also feels surreal, we didnโ€™t expect weโ€™d reach this far.โ€

The eclectic rendition of โ€œChristmas Party,โ€ is produced by August Rigo, the hitmaker behind some of BTSโ€™ biggest global smashes (โ€œOnโ€ and โ€œBlack Swanโ€).

SEE ALSO: SB19 releases โ€œNyebeโ€ ahead of โ€˜WYATโ€™ Homecoming Concert

NOBITA, whose single โ€œIkaw Langโ€ is the most streamed song of 2022 according to Spotify Wrapped, expressed enthusiasm and gratitude when they found out that theyโ€™re part of the music project that pays tribute to the generation-defining catalog of The Eraserheads. “We grew up listening to and playing Eheads songs,” the alt-rock group says in a statement. โ€œNOBITA heavily draws inspiration from their music, especially their brand of songwriting. Their work has shaped us into where we are now, and weโ€™re forever grateful for their enormous contribution to OPM artists, young and old.โ€

For their part, NOBITA adds a little jazz-pop treatment to โ€œMagasinโ€ without completely losing the songโ€™s upbeat and heavily melodic arrangement. Slightly slowing it down with stripped-down finesse, the chart-topping five-piece act puts sunshine back in โ€œhugotโ€ with an endearingly surprising twist.

Apart from the revamped tracks by some of todayโ€™s biggest hitmakers, five of The Eraserheadsโ€™ legendary albums were re-released in full 360-degree spatial sound to give listeners a new immersive music experience. These influential records include Ultraelectromagneticpop!: The 25th Anniversary Remastered Edition, Circus (25th Anniversary Remastered), Cutterpillow, Fruitcake, and Sticker Happy.

SB19โ€™s โ€œChristmas Partyโ€ and NOBITAโ€™s โ€œMagasinโ€ are out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

  • Super Junior Takes Their Rightful Throne with Super Show 9 in Manila

Super Junior Takes Their Rightful Throne with Super Show 9 in Manila

Always a good memory with Super Junior โ€” from Super Show 2, and now, Super Show 9 in Manila.

These days, it seems a K-Pop act is in the country every weekend. This wasnโ€™t always the case. The road to K-Pop artists seeing the Philippines as a tour destination is long, and Super Junior, without question, paved the way.

Twelve years after they first brought Super Show 2 to Manila, the group returned to the SM Mall of Asia Arena for two days of Super Show 9: Road, taking their rightful throne as kings of the genre.

Super Junior led the pack of K-Pop groups that broke through mainstream Philippine media in the late 2000s. When virality was more novelty than the norm, their earworm of a track “Sorry, Sorry” was heard all over the world in 2009, thanks to a dance number by the famed Cebu Dancing Inmates. In 2012, members Siwon and Donghae became the first Korean ambassadors to endorse a local brand, and ELFs would make the trip to Guadalupe for a glimpse of their gigantic ad.

The chemistry between Super Junior and ELFs is unmatched. Super Junior are industry veterans, having debuted in 2005. The fandom has become veteran concert-goers as well. Since Super Show 2, all Super Show installments have come to the Philippines with the exception of Super Show 4 and 6. The crowd may seem laid-back, but as soon as the lights are off, these K-Pop titas and titos go wild.

The K-Pop royalty that they are, they fittingly opened the night donning Renaissance-era suits for “Burn the Floor”, “The Crown”, “Super”, and “Mr. Simple”. The setlist was divided into four thematic segments evoking a range of emotions, starting with dark and heavy tracks and ending with fun, upbeat dance themes. Old-time favorites like “Sorry, Sorry”, “Bonamana”, and “Mr. Simple” were of course on the list, as well as “Callinโ€™” which was released this February.

Super Junior gave Filipino fans the privilege of being the first in the world to hear “Celebrate” and “White Love” from their freshly released The Road: Celebration album. The music video for the title track “Celebrate” was released just the day prior. Even with the announcement of the performance being short notice, ELFs came through with sapphire blue hand banners that will hopefully appear on the live performance video the label is putting together.

The special video of “Celebrate”, clips from Super Show 9 in Manila, was released on December 21.

Widely recognized as among the funniest idols, Super Junior brought their comedic chops for a special segment where they dressed up head-to-toe as Classical composers competing to be recognized as the God of Music. After a wildly-entertaining video of them deep into their characters, they rose to the stage to perform operatic versions of “SPY”, “Rokkugo”, and “Mamacita”. Humor and banter have always been Super Juniorโ€™s most charming quality, and it shines through even on tape.

The stage layout was generous, and the group was an armโ€™s reach away from the standing and seated VIP sections. Donghae in particular took time to borrow a few phones for selfies and high-fived as many as he could on the extended stages.

This concert did not come without challenges. Super Show 9 was originally scheduled for August 6 this year but had to be postponed after the death of Eunhyukโ€™s father and Siwonโ€™s CoViD-19 diagnosis. On the afternoon of the original date, Label SJ announced that the concert was postponed, but that the members still wanted to greet the fans. With utmost humility, the group stepped onstage to apologize to a tearful crowd. On that day, a promise was made: Super Junior will return at a better time, and ELFs will cheer for them as loud as they can.

For how melancholic the 2022 schedule became, this do-over turned it around. Promises were fulfilled on both ends. Eunhyuk confessed he was worried about how things would turn out and was apologetic about the concert cancellation. The audience responded with warm cheers of โ€œitโ€™s okayโ€ and chants of his name.

This is their last Super Show for the year. They mused about how Filipino ELFs are Christmas presents to them, and how the show has become their early Christmas present for fans as well. By the end, a promise to come back soon was signed and sealed once again.

Super Show 9: Road in Manila is presented by PULP Live World and Happee Hour. Special thanks to PULP Live World and Happee Hour for the invite to the event.

  • SEVENTEEN Makes History with Be the Sun in Bulacan Concert at the Philippine Arena

SEVENTEEN Makes History with Be the Sun in Bulacan Concert at the Philippine Arena

SEVENTEEN unlocks another milestone as the first K-Pop group to hold a solo concert at the world’s largest indoor arena with BE THE SUN in Bulacan!

With the unwavering support of their fans, South Korean boy group SEVENTEEN made history last December 17 as they officially becomes the first K-Pop group to hold a solo concert at the Philippine Arena, the world’s largest indoor arena, through their BE THE SUN in Bulacan concert.

BE THE SUN in Bulacan also marked the return of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino to the Philippine concert stage a few months following the success of their two-night Be the Sun in Manila concerts at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last October. Like always, Carats welcomed the boys with the loudest cheers and the brightest lights, filling the Philippine Arena with the best energy.

SEVENTEEN opened the historic BE THE SUN in Bulacan concert with a parade of strong performances of “HOT”, “March”, and “HIT”. With general leader S.Coups’ lead, the boys said hello to their Carats with their signature greeting of “Say the name, SEVENTEEN! Hi, we are SEVENTEEN!”

The members expressed amazement at seeing the full-house arena. “We told you we will be coming back — because of you,” Hoshi said. Seeing the thousands of Carats that came to meet them again, the performance unit leader remarked that it was good to have returned swiftly. DK added, “We were shocked that there are so many people here right now.”

Joshua thanked Carats for filling up the venue all the way to the top, saying they are the reason they came back to the country for another concert in a single year. “It feels so great to be back in the Philippines. It’s actually our first time coming to Bulacan so really, really excited about tonight. You guys filled up such a big arena. Thank you guys so much. Let’s have fun tonight,” he said.

    Photo from Pledis Entertainment

Keeping the high energy going, SEVENTEEN performed their 2021 hit song “Rock with You” from their Attacca album before taking the stage unit by unit.

Joshua and Vernon kicked off the unit stages with “2 Minus 1”, while the performance unit, made up of Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino, mesmerized everyone with their moves in “Moonwalker” and “Wave”. The vocal unit, composed of Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan, filled the arena with their sweet vocals in “Come to Me” and “Imperfect Love”. The “Imperfect Love” stage also witnessed the beautiful moment of thousands of Carats at the Philippine Arena, singing together the song. Firing up the concert stage next, S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon came together to deliver fired-up performances of the hip-hop unit’s “GAM3 BO1” and “Back It Up”.

And when everyone thought the unit stages are over, SEVENTEEN’s leader line S.Coups, Hoshi, and Woozi surprised the crowd with “CHEERS”. Deafening cheers echoed loudly with the unexpected addition to the setlist. Never beating the Philippine crowd-sing-the-song allegations, Carats surely made the leader line proud as they spit fire during S.Coups’ “Ayy, ayy, ayy, ayy, ์•„๋ฌด๋„ ๋ชป ๋”ฐ๋ผ ํ•ด / Ayy, ayy, ayy, ayy, ์ด์   ์šฐ๋ฆด ๋”ฐ๋ผ ํ•ด” part.

Clad in red and white, the members came back on stage for group performances of “Mansae“, “Left & Right”, and the always iconic “Aju Nice”. Vernon also gave a short performance of LE SSERAFIM’s “Fearless” as part of the boys’ delightful skit pre-“Mansae“.

The crowd was on its feet with Carat bongs in hand, leaping along to the music with the greatest fervor and feeling every second, every moment of their beloved boys’ return โ€” this time, to a larger arena.

After a brief intermission, they returned and looked as dapper as ever in black and silver costumes. They then performed their most recent hits, starting with “Shadow” and “Crush” in powerful and captivating stages before concluding the set with “_WORLD.”

We who are united will lighten the darkest paths and share the moments with everyone. We are about to begin our journey to become the SUN, to the place close to the SUN which no one ever conquered. We will become the brightest existence. We will not hold back anymore.

from a vcr played during the be the sun in bulacan

SEVENTEEN returned on stage for an encore performance of “Dar+ling”. The boys moved around the stage, approaching every corner of the stage to come closer to their Carats. They then sat down to deliver their ending messages one after the other.

The members became emotional as they express their gratitude for the undying love and unwavering support of their fans who filled the world’s largest indoor arena with the best energy and the loudest cheers. Joshua, who received an early birthday greeting from Filipino Carats, remarked, “We’re so happy to be back. It’s only been two months but we got here at such a bigger venue, so we are really thankful for that.” He also expressed gratitude for the birthday greeting, saying “You guys made another unforgettable memory for me. Thank you so much!”

Seungkwan also looked back on the journey of the boy group as he reminisces about their first-ever meeting with their Filipino Carats back in 2016. The boy group debuted on the Philippine concert stage with a two-day SEVENTEEN 1st Asia Tour 2016 Shining Diamond at The Theatre at Solaire, a 1,740-seater grand auditorium. Six years after, SEVENTEEN filled the Philippine Arena which has a maximum capacity of 55,000 in a span of a little over two months after filling up the SM Mall of Asia Arena with a two-day concert back in October.

A teary-eyed S.Coups promised that SEVENTEEN will meet their Carats again in a bigger venue and a cooler stage. “We will come back with a better show โ€” much better than Be the Sun. Mahal ko kayo,” he said.

Aside from creating history with S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino that night, Carats made sure that the boys will look back on that historic night with the fondest memories as they gift them with a banner project and a serenade of “Campfire”.

Thank you for making this moment our happiest memory!

SEVENTEEN then performed “Our Dawn is Hotter than Day”, “Snapshoot”, and “Aju Nice”. Philippines’ Superstar Dino and Carats once again collaborated for his iconic part in “Snapshoot”. Chosen fans also made the night more fun as they give their all in dancing to the song.

Still, a SEVENTEEN concert will never be complete without the seemingly never-ending “Aju Nice”. And when everyone thought BE THE SUN in Bulacan has ended, S.Coups led the run back to the stage for one last “Aju Nice” with Carats at the Philippine Arena.

“Today is a perfect day,” Hoshi said as the members gather for their final greeting โ€” “Say the name, SEVENTEEN!”

Indeed, the name SEVENTEEN will live on in Philippine K-Pop history as the first K-Pop group to play a solo concert at the world’s largest indoor arena, the Philippine Arena, with BE THE SUN in Bulacan. It is a defining moment, an accomplishment that will never be forgotten. They have transformed into the brightest existence โ€” in rose quartz and serenity โ€” with the promise of returning with a bigger and better concert. SEVENTEEN will not hold back anymore.

Netflix releases thrilling new trailer for The Glory

The captivating primary trailer for the original Netflix series ‘The Glory,’ starring Song Hye Kyo, Lee Do Hyun, and a number of other actors, has been released.

The teaser gives the impression that Song Hye Kyo would play a hostile and icy character, which is quite a departure from her usual roles that she has typically played in the past. The teaser is brought to a close by a punchline delivered by Song Hye Kyo, which goes as follows: “Let’s slowly wilt and die together.”

This masterpiece from writer Kim Eun-sook of Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Mr. Sunshine, and director An Gil-ho of Stranger is 8 episodes of 60 min. Drama, coupled with Revenge, Bullying, Childhood Trauma and Confrontation.

After enduring hell during her adolescent years, during which she was the target of assault and bullying by her friends, “The Glory” tells the story of a lady who has spent a life without a soul as a result of her traumatic experiences. Now that she is an adult, Dong Eun’s one and only goal in life is to take ruthless retribution on all of those who wronged her in the past.

On the day that Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) is getting married, Dong Eun makes his way back into her life. This happens in the main trailer. Dong Eun whispers the following to herself: “Starting today, every day of your life will be hell. It will be horrific and triggering.”

The perpetrators of the horrific acts who were able to escape justice eventually come face to face with the adult Dong Eun. Jae Joon (Park Sung Hoon), Sara (Kim Hieora), Hye Jung (Cha Joo Young), Myung Oh (Kim Gun Woo), and Do Young (Jung Sung Il). Lee Do Hyun, who plays the role of the enigmatic Go player whose identity has not been disclosed, and Yeom Hye Ran, who portrays Hyun Nam, a person who seeks Dong Eun’s assistance, round out the cast of characters.

    About SZA:

Born in St. Louis and raised in Maplewood, NJ, genre-defying, and GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist SZA released her major label debut album Ctrl (TDE/RCA) in 2017. Revered for its raw and honest lyrics, it landed at No. 1 on Billboardโ€™s R&B Albums chart, No. 2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, according to Nielsen Music. The now RIAA-certified 3xPlatinum album received five Grammy nominations in 2018 and more than half the songs on Ctrl are currently certified multi-Platinum and Gold. Ctrl remains on the Billboard 200 chart since its release in 2017 and holds the record for the longest run for any Black female artistโ€™s debut album. In 2022 alone it sold over 600,000 units and is the 10th best-selling female album this year in the country and the 50th best-selling album in 2022 overall.

SZA has won various awards since the release of Ctrl including a 2022 GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Dou/Group Performance for โ€œKiss Me Moreโ€ with Doja Cat, Billboard Music Awardsโ€™ Top R&B Female Artist, BET Awardsโ€™ Best New Artist, BET Soul Train Awardsโ€™ Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and Best New Artist, MTV Video Music Awardsโ€™ Best Visual Effects for the โ€œAll The Starsโ€ with Kendrick Lamar, and NAACP Image Awards Outstanding New Artist. In 2019, she won NAACP Image Awardsโ€™ Outstanding Duo or Group for โ€œAll The Starsโ€ with Kendrick Lamar and Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation for the Black Panther Soundtrack. SZA also received Billboardโ€™s 2019 Women in Music Rule Breaker award.

In 2020, SZA released the hypnotic track โ€œHit Differentโ€ featuring Ty Dolla $ign along with the stunning visual that took the internet by storm. To close out the trying year, SZA gifted fans on Christmas Day with the hopeful track โ€œGood Days,โ€ followed by a trippy visual released in March. Grammy-nominated for Best R&B Song, the single quickly became SZAโ€™s greatest gainer solo single release, peaking at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and marking her first time in the chartโ€™s top ten as the main artist.

December 2021, SZA scored her second lead artist top 10 on Billboardโ€™s Hot 100 chart with the official release of โ€œI Hate U,โ€ which debuted at #7. The song also entered #1 on both Spotify and Apple Music US charts and broke the record for the most streamed R&B song by a female artist on Apple Music in its first week. โ€œShirt,โ€ her most recent single from SOS, has garnered over 60 million streams globally since its release in October.

To this day, SZA continues to set the standard on creativity and songwriting, while shattering records with over 7.2 billion streams worldwide across all platforms.
