  • Stranger Things Turns Glorietta 4 Upside Down with Light Projection Mapping Show

Stranger Things Turns Glorietta 4 Upside Down with Light Projection Mapping Show

To mark the return of Stranger Things season 4, Netflix Philippines created an immersive show using light, sound, and projection at the Glorietta 4 Activity Center. It was also part of Netflix’s campaign before the much-awaited release of Volume 2 on July 1.

The projection started with the creepy sound of the grandfather clock countdown, followed by tons of spiders coming out from the clock. The whole area glowed red just like the opening credit of the series. Scenes from the Vol. 2 came next before the portal slowly opened between our world and the Upside Down. The projection ended with Vecna’s return to the Upside Down and ready to look for his next victim.

Cosplayers of Vecna and Max recreated the famous scene of the series which can be found in season 4 episode 4.

The entire activity center was set up for photo opportunities as you enter Vecna’s Mind Lair with life-sized props and some elements of the show. The event provides a one-of-a-kind visual experience for fans and viewers and a genuine advertising initiative, which is uncommon today. It demonstrates not only Stranger Things’ popularity but also Netflix’s dedication to the show and its fans.

Glorietta looks like Starcourt Mall in season 3

The gateway to the Upside Down at the Glorietta 4 Activity Center is open to the public until July 2 from 6PM – 8PM every 15 minutes, so head over to Glorietta 4 and experience Vecna’s curse. Don’t forget to use #StrangerThings4PH when you share your photos or videos on your social media account. (NOTE: Cosplayers not included)

Special thanks to Netflix Philippines for having us.

Lauv releases his new single and video “Kids Are Born Stars”

Today, multi-Platinum and chart-topping singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Lauv releases his new single and video “Kids Are Born Stars”, available everywhere now via Virgin Music Label and Artist Services. “Kids Are Born Stars” serves as the third single off of Lauv’s highly anticipated second full-length album, All 4 Nothing, set to be released on August 5th. The new music video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU as well as the Paramount Times Square billboards, and Lauv is also featured on today’s New Music Daily playlist with Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “Kids Are Born Stars” follows previous song releases “26” and the stunning title track “All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love)”, which is currently #22 at Top 40 Radio and climbing.

Directed by Hannah Lux Davis (Ariana Grande, Doja Cat), Lauv meets and connects with his younger self in the new video. On the inspiration behind the release, he shares, “When I started making this album, I was doing a lot of inner child meditation work and this song was me getting back in touch with my 8th grade self and giving him a little dose of confidence because Lord knows he would’ve needed it back then. As an adult I had lost touch with my sense of confidence too and making this song and the whole album helped me get back in touch with the person I really am.”

On his upcoming album, All 4 Nothing, Lauv expands his signature sound like never before. He focused on the storytelling and crafted an immersive and irresistible body of work steeped in moments of nostalgia, conflict, and ultimately, self-empowerment. He says, “My album ‘All 4 Nothing’ curates an energy of openness, wonder, and excitement, but also vulnerability and realness. I hope it opens up a vortex to something you haven’t felt in a while—a place where you can build yourself up from.”

  • A Beautiful Day with Ro Woon and Globe’s Kmmunity PH

A Beautiful Day with Ro Woon and Globe’s Kmmunity PH

Words and photos by Danica Lacson

Truly a k-ganda ng araw-araw with Ro Woon and Kmmunity PH!

June 26 became extra special for fans of South Korean singer-actor Ro Woon with Globe’s RO WOON LIVE IN MANILA: A Kmmunity Exclusive Fan Meet at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It was a beautiful gathering filled with unforgettable memories that will make every day k-ganda from now on.

Fans of the SF9 member flocked to the SM Mall of Asia Arena and brought their excited spirits even hours before the official start of the event, enjoying the booths set up inside the venue and a mini meet-and-greet with Little Happee.

The exclusive fan meet marked Ro Woon’s first solo event in the Philippines and his third visit to the country. He previously performed with SF9 in 2018 for Be My Fantasy and in 2019 for Unixerse.

Three years after his last Manila show, the singer-actor returned with graciousness and vibrance thanks to the warm and love-filled welcome of thousands of his Filipino fans who filled the SM Mall of Asia Arena and screamed loud for him as he took the stage.

Ro Woon said he was surprised by the huge crowd, adding that he did not expect that a lot of fans will come to meet him. “Thank you very much,” he said. And the love was well-deserved as the singer-actor gamely took on every segment and game during the fan meeting!

He immersed himself in everything Filipino, learning Filipino sentences like “Nakakakaba naman ang chika mo, beshie.” and “Sa Globe Kmmunity, k-ganda ng araw-araw!“. He also ate Filipino snacks like turon, puto bumbong, and his favorite taho.

A definite highlight of the night: Ro Woon in barong Tagalog! The SF9 member and Tomorrow actor completed his Filipino culture immersion by donning traditional Filipino clothing. According to him, barong suits the hot weather in the Philippines because it is see-through.

Meanwhile, Filipino game sipa got his competitive spirit up that he had to do the challenge twice. The result: sipa-2, Ro Woon-0. But the effort is definitely commendable, Ro Woon!

    https://twitter.com/philconcerts/status/1541002206736191488

Although sipa and Ro Woon failed to exhibit the best teamwork, the singer-actor found his best teammates to play Pinoy Henyo with — the MOA arena crowd! Thanks to his fans, he navigated the questions with breeze (while cutely pretending that no coaching was happening).

Aside from fun memories, the fan meeting attendees also took home the best life advice from their idol. The singer-actor shared his positive outlook on failures and struggles. According to him, he finds more meaning in failures than success as failures allow you to appreciate your success more.

Fans felt more of his warmth and comfort with the special gifts he prepared. Lucky fans went home with signed gifts including handkerchiefs and mask and glasses necklaces. He also personally designed a bayong on stage, tracing his hand to signify a hi-five. He hopes that it cheers the person, especially during hard times.

But fans of the SF9 member did not allow the night to pass without sending him off with the sweetest gifts and the most comforting video message and fan project for their shining star, Seokwoo — whenever, wherever, let’s be together.

Ro Woon capped off the evening with a performance of his original soundtrack for his 2021 drama The King’s Affection, “No Goodbye In Love”. Indeed, there is no goodbye in love but only see you again. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much,” said the singer-actor in his ending message.

The RO WOON LIVE IN MANILA: A Kmmunity Exclusive Fan Meet gifted everyone at the SM Mall of Asia Arena with lasting memories to revisit and warm our days with. Ro Woon was charming, full of life, and generous, giving everyone big smiles on their faces. And the crowd reciprocated all of it with so much love and admiration for the singer-actor who deserves every bit of it. As Ro Woon wrote, “Thank you for making me all the unforgettable memories.”

Special thanks to Kmmunity PH, Happee Hour and Globe for having us.

  • Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 2 Trailer Hints ‘Fall of Hawkins’

Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 2 Trailer Hints ‘Fall of Hawkins’

With less than one week until the last two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 drop on Netflix, the streaming service has provided yet another peek at what’s in store for the youngsters battling to save Hawkins. Watch the latest trailer below:

    https://twitter.com/Netflix_PH/status/1539247516142579712?t=cpTtl1VYjPH13LWRNCFm0A&s=19

Stranger Things, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, is Netflix’s most-watched English language series as of the first volume of season four. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the Hawkins gang have overcome unthinkable odds and come out on top,but not without casualties. Hawkins will fall, according to a sequence of warnings and concerns. Perhaps things will not go their way this time. Eleven isn’t prepared. But who is, when creatures from the Upside Down come calling?

The Duffer brothers have explicitly stated that certain fatalities will occur towards the conclusion of Season 4. A death was quite predictable, but the constant assurance that there would be more than one death is both disturbing and unexpected. Could it be main characters or latest cast additions? Stranger Things’ producers admitting several fatalities only heightens speculation about what the ultimate body count will be and who will be included in volume 2.

The last two episodes of the highly popular Netflix series this season will undoubtedly be filled with adventure, dramatic terror, and, of course, humor. Netflix stated that the two episodes will have a combined length of over four hours.

Prepare to have a mind- blowing streaming experience when Stranger Things returns on July 1st.

  • Meghan Trainor unveils new single ‘Bad For Me’

Meghan Trainor unveils new single ‘Bad For Me’

She’s back! GRAMMY® Award-winning, global superstar Meghan Trainor has announced her anxiously awaited fourth full-length album, Takin’ It Back, arriving October 21st, 2022 via Epic Records. Pre-order/pre-save HERE.

This time around, she made a conscious decision to hark back to the signature sound she introduced on her 2015 full-length debut, TITLE, and bring it forward to today.

About the album, Meghan said, “I tried to do the doo-wop feel I had at the beginning of my career, but the 2022 version of it. This is from the new Meghan who is a wife and mom with a baby. This is from me right now. I decided to give the people what they want, but with my spices added to it. I wanted to make my Title 2.0.

To bring the record to life, she worked closely alongside a “core squad” of Gian StoneFederico VindverSean Douglas, and little brother Justin Trainor out of her own home studio. Musically, she integrates doo wop and classic harmonies into one anthem after another taking you through her journey into marriage, motherhood, and achieving a new level of confidence.

It’s embodied on the bold and bright new single  “Bad For Me,” featuring Teddy Swims, out today. The track finds the powerhouse tapping into her doo wop roots once more with a whole lot of fresh fire. Throwback harmonies underline a simmering groove as she opens up lyrically. On the chorus, she urges, “Please don’t make promises that you can’t keep. Your best intentions end up hurting me.” Meanwhile, Teddy appears with a seismic and show-stopping vocal turn of his own. Together, they uplift the lyrics with undeniable energy.

Directed by Thom Kerr (Iggy Azalea, Kim Petras), the accompanying video finds Meghan and Teddy in a symbolic and surreal world full of flowers. As the video fluctuates between different landscapes, it showcases the journey that writing and recording this song has taken Meghan on. It’s one in which she has found light and new beginnings in distancing herself from toxic relationships. Listen/Watch HERE

Regarding “Bad For Me, Meghan commented, “My dad actually sent me Teddy’s video for ‘Broke’, and I’ve been so obsessed with him ever since. It’s a dream to record with someone who has that good of a voice, and he’s the sweetest guy ever. The song is a true story for me. It’s about how I stood up for myself and took a step back from a relationship that was hurting me more than anything. It’s hard to do, but I needed to in order to feel better.

Get ready for more very soon as Meghan takes it back in 2022.

Since releasing original demos on his YouTube channel at the age of 15, Conan Gray has emerged as one of the pre-eminent pop superstars of his generation. Even after the commercial success of global multi-platinum hits “Heather” (which earned its own Urban Dictionary entry) and “Maniac”, his music continues to maintain its unflinching authenticity and originality. Gray’s debut album, Kid Krow, crafted by Gray and longtime collaborator and producer Dan Nigro, reached #5 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart and became the biggest new artist debut of the year. In the summer of 2020, when “Heather” topped charts around the world, Sir Elton John publicly praised Gray for being the only artist on the Spotify top 50 to have written the song entirely on their own. With over 7 billion streams, he has attracted unanimous applause from a who’s who of tastemakers including Vogue, GQ, V Man, Paper, Fader, Billboard, NPR, MTV, I-D, Wonderland, Clash, Notion, and has delivered rapturous performances on television shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and The Today Show. At the same time, Gray earned the recognition of fashion arbiters, claiming a spot on “Best Dressed” lists from the likes of Teen Vogue and making a splash during his MET Gala debut. In 2022, he headlined a SOLD-OUT world tour, lighting up New York’s legendary Radio City Music Hall, and leaving the main stage of Coachella begging for more. However, he reaches another creative stratosphere on his sophomore album, Superache, reteaming with Nigro. Now, he delivers the definitive Gen-Z alternative manifesto.

Charlie Puth reunites with global superstar Jung Kook for ‘Left and Right’

Today, GRAMMY nominated and multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer, Charlie Puth, joins forces with global superstar Jung Kook, of 21st-century pop icons BTS, for their highly anticipated new song “Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS),” out now via Atlantic Records. Known for giving a glimpse of his creative process to his more than 16 million followers on TikTok, Puth has been teasing the track for months while fans speculated on the surprise collaboration. Click HERE to listen to the song in full.

Produced by Puth himself, “Left and Right” instantly captivates with its vibrant, funk-fueled sensibilities that effortlessly fuse the two hitmakers’ signature sounds. The highly infectious track notably ignites the duo’s creative collaboration after performing “We Don’t Talk Anymore” together at the 2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards.

The song arrives alongside an official video, which was directed by Drew Kirsch. The playful visual humorously sees Puth and Jung Kook through a therapeutic fantasy to escape their own minds. Watch the video HERE.

“Left and Right” serves as the third single from Puth’s forthcoming deeply personal third studio album, CHARLIE, due later this year. After months of fan anticipation, he released his critically acclaimed first single from the album, “Light Switch,” in January 2022 which hit No. 1 on the Apple iTunes Pop Chart and has garnered more than 401 million streams globally and over 83 million views on YouTube. He recently appeared and performed the track on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and ELLEN, as well as the iHeart Awards, where he did a special dueling piano performance with EGOT John Legend. Puth also performed the track in addition to his other fan-favorite hits at this year’s iHeart Radio KIIS-FM Wango Tango, receiving the biggest response from the crowd of the evening. Following it up with an emotional and moving song “That’s Hilarious,” he has amassed over 99 million streams on Spotify.

MOA in MOA is really happening as TXT debuts on the Philippine concert stage in October!

South Korean boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER, commonly known as, TXT, is bringing their ACT : LOVE SICK World Tour to the Philippines on October 27 and 28 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Big Hit Music announced upcoming Asia stops of the boy group’s world tour in a Weverse post last June 21. PULP Live World, the promoter of the Manila shows, confirmed the upcoming dates that will see Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai take over SM Mall of Asia Arena in a two-day concert.

Filipino MOAs surely did not contain their excitement as only a few minutes following the announcement, “TXT IN MANILA” already rose to the top of the Philippine Twitter trends. And they have every right to be excited because ACT : LOVE SICK in Manila will serve as the first-ever live concert of TXT in the Philippines since debuting in 2019.

Setting and Breaking Records: The TXT Way

TXT became the first boy group Big Hit Music (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) debuted six years following BTS. Debuting with high expectations, Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai defied expectations and made a name for themselves with their music and artistry.

The boy group debuted with the release of their first extended play, The Dream Chapter: Star. The EP topped South Korea’s Gaon Album Chart and Billboard World Albums Chart. Its lead single, “Crown”, took the top spot on Billboard World Digital Songs Chart. In addition, the music video for “Crown” broke the record for the most viewed K-Pop debut music video within 24 hours for a boy group.

TXT also debuted on top of Billboard Emerging Artists and at number 140 on the Billboard 200 chart. One week after their debut, the boys also secured their first music show win on SBS TV’s The Show.

Since then, TXT became unstoppable in their climb towards the top as they become one of the most successful K-Pop groups of their generation. Their most recent release, Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child was another statement of their ever-growing success. In less than two days, the extended play surpassed one million copies sold. The feat made TXT the second-fastest artist on Hanteo to do so after BTS. Moreover, Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child gave the boy group their highest ranking on Billboard 200, debuting at number four on the Top 200 Albums chart. With their recent EP, TXT also became the first foreign artist in Oricon history to top its weekly album chart with six consecutive albums.

Hwang In Youp Charms Filipino Fans in BYS Fun Meet in Manila

Words and photos by Danica Lacson

It was, without a doubt, a beautiful first meeting between Hwang In Youp and his Filipino fans at the BYS Fun Meet in Manila!

South Korean model-actor Hwang In Youp is no stranger to the Philippines, having spent four years studying in Davao in his teenage years. Fast forward to 2022, the True Beauty star returns to the country he once called his home — not to study — but to meet his Filipino fans who welcomed him with warmness and sunshine, making up for the gloomy skies of June 19.

Hwang In Youp BYS Fun Meet in Manila press conference

Before the BYS Fun Meet in Manila, presented by BYS Cosmetics Philippines in partnership with Wilbros Live, at the New Frontier Theater, the actor charmed the press members with his graciousness and sweet personality during a press conference held at the EDSA Shangri-la.

Hwang In Youp expressed his joy in coming back to the Philippines and shared his surprise to be greeted by fans during his arrival in the country the night before. He also looked back on his years in Davao — a place, he said, has a special place in his heart. The actor added that he remains in touch with his friends despite not seeing each other for about a decade. He admitted wanting to visit the city. “The schedule for this trip is quite tight, so I will probably not be able to go to Davao. Maybe I will make a side trip,” he joked.

The actor, who currently leads the SBS drama Why Her, also revealed his favorite local foods. He listed down Jollibee’s fried chicken, Chowking’s halo-halo, and kwek-kwek as his favorite. Adding to the list of his favorite foods are mango float and pineapple. Aside from food, he shared the local places he wished to visit which include Boracay and Cebu.

On Skincare and Self-Care: Hwang In Youp uncovers his secret to true beauty and what being yourself means to him.

BYS Cosmetics Philippines took huge strides in its research and development as it ventures into skincare with the launch of Skin by BYS. The skincare brand features a complete range of products that cater to a wide range of skin types.

And BYS Cosmetics Philippines chose the best endorser to represent — an actor who also made huge strides in his career — Hwang In Youp who was named ambassador of BYS Cosmetics Philippines in September 2021 with the launch of Skin by BYS.

During the press conference, the Why Her actor revealed his secret to his clear and smooth skin. According to him, aside from BYS products, he always applies sunscreen — a habit he developed when he was a kid, thanks to his parents. He also loved taking cold showers and using lip balm to moisturize his lips. In addition, the actor also emphasized having a positive attitude. He shared that he unwinds by going on late-night drives and listening to music.

Asked what it means to be yourself, Hwang In Youp emphasized the importance of loving oneself. “As you live life, you get to a point where you become critical of yourself or maybe even hate yourself. I think it is really important to switch that paradigm to loving yourself because it is only in loving yourself that you are able to go to the next step which is loving others,” he said.

A Fun Meeting: What Went Down at the BYS Fun Meet in Manila

Fans of Hwang In Youp will definitely remember June 19 with the fondest memories. Even before the actor came out from backstage, New Frontier Theater was filled with excited cheers. And those cheers grew louder when the man of the hour emerged on stage with the brightest smile.

He greeted the crowd with a “Hello. Ako si Hwang In Youp.”

Through the BYS Fun Meet in Manila, fans got to know the actor better and listen to some behind-the-scene stories of his drama shoots. He recounted his stay in the Philippines, expressing his love for Davao, Filipino food, and more. The Philippines definitely felt the love as the actor said that if he got the chance to be 18 again, he will do the same thing — live in the Philippines, study in Davao, and eat kwek-kwek.

He also revealed more details about being ambidextrous, his fashion statement, and how he entered the entertainment industry. Hwang In Youp made his acting debut in 2018 through the web drama Why. He went on to star in various productions including The Tale of Nokdu, 18 Again, True Beauty, and currently, Why Her.

And fans of the actor did not hold back in expressing their love for his True Beauty character, Han Seojun. Asked about his definition of “true beauty”, the actor said true beauty is about loving yourself in order to love other people. Meanwhile, talking about his dream role, Hwang In Youp said that, more than a particular role, his dream role is the role that fans would love.

From Goo Ja Sung, to Han Seo Jun, and now, Gong Chan: The Many Roles of Hwang In Youp

The attendees of the fun meet got to take a trip-down-memory-lane on Hwang In Youp’s various dramas with the actor himself. Scenes from his dramas True Beauty, 18 Again, and Why Her were played *cue shy Hwang In Youp* — who also shared behind-the-scene stories, including a sweet shout-out for Moon Ga Young. The actor thanked his True Beauty leading lady for helping him out in his scenes.

Although we did not get to meet singer Hwang In Youp as his throat is unwell, the actor still granted fans’ request for a snippet of his official soundtrack, “It Starts Today”. He even teased fans by only singing a line from the song at first. What a cutiiiie!

Lucky fans got the opportunity to ask the actor questions and got their wishes granted.

Ending the night with a promise to see each other again

The BYS Fun Meet in Manila featuring Hwang In Youp gifted fans with the sweetest memories to treasure until his next visit. He said goodbye with appreciative and comforting words, easing the heartbreak of bidding a temporary farewell. “Thank you all so much for coming out tonight. I hope you love the brand BYS, which I endorse, as much as I do. I will be going home tonight, but I hope I can come back and spend more time with you. Thank you so much for coming tonight. Be healthy. I love you!”

Hwang In Youp’s BYS Fun Meet in Manila was presented by BYS Cosmetics Philippines in partnership with Wilbros Live. The Philippine Concerts extends gratitude to BYS Cosmetics Philippines and Wilbros Live for the invite to the press conference and event.
