    The Grammy-winning duo, The Chainsmokers are coming back to Manila as part of their Memories Do Not Open World Tour on September 13 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    Formed in 2012, The Chainsmokers are Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. The New York tandem broke through with 2014’s “Selfie” before releasing a debut EP, Bouquet, which features chart-topping “Roses”. The Chainsmokers released two more hit singles, “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya and “Closer,” which featured the vocals of Halsey and hit the top of the charts in both the U.S. and the U.K.

    YG Entertainment and IME Prod​uctions are bringing G-DRAGON to Manila, iconic KPOP solo artist and leader of Korea’s most influential band, BIGBANG, will be returning with his first solo concert  “G-DRAGON 2017 WORLD TOUR <ACTIII, M.O.T.T.E>” on September 1 at Araneta Coliseum.     Kwon Ji-Yong, better known by his stage name G-DRAGON, is a South Korean rap​per, singer-songwriter, record producer, and fashion icon. After six years as a trainee under the record label YG Entertainment, G-DRAGON officially debuted as a member of the South Korean group BIGBANG. G-DRAGON has been involved with writing, composing, and producing many of BIGBANG’s and his own hit tracks. As of 2017, he has written 22 songs that has topped the music charts.

    He became the second member of BIGBANG to make a solo debut in Japan after his bandmate Daesung’s solo concert tour. In 2013, he embarked on his first worldwide tour as a solo artist, which included a four-dome tour in Japan, making him the first Korean soloist to do a dome tour. Recognized as one of the most influential leaders in music and fashion in his country, G-DRAGON was named by Forbes Asia the Most Influential Person Under 30 in Eastern’s Entertainment and Sports.

    The tour, his second following the record-breaking One of a Kind tour in 2013, is described as a showcase of the “loneliness and anguish hidden behind the glamourous life from his massive success”, said the YG website.

    Sheerios and Directioners React To Show Announcements

    As Ovation Productions and MMI Live revealed the details of their new shows, fans reacted with a mix of joy and wishfulness.

     

    Some Filipino fans of Ed Sheeran in social media want the November 7 concert venue to be moved, while One Direction fans called for a later date for ticket selling.

    Sheeran’s Divide Tour in Manila from Ovation Productions is set to take place at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds that can hold 35,000 fans.

    Filo Sheerios flocked to social media, saying they want the Divide Tour venue to be moved either to the MOA Arena (12, 000 -15,000 fans), Araneta Coliseum (20,000) or Philippine Arena (55,000 capacity). We are Ed’s biggest market in the world, and if it will be held in small venue, only few fans can watch his one night show in Manila.

    Directioners, on the other hand, want the June 19 selling date for the announced Harry Styles 2018 solo concert be moved at a later date. They claim the date is too early to sell tickets for a show that’s scheduled next year.

     

    Rhiza Pascua, Chief Operating Officer of MMI Live, on her twitter account said that “sumusunod lang kami sa gusto ng artist.”
