PhilConcerts Q&A: A Rocket To The Moon

    a-rocket-to-the-moon

Manila fans had their hearts broken by the news of A Rocket To The Moon calling it quits several months ago. As a final hurrah, Pulp Live World brought them to Manila for a farewell set at one of the biggest music fests of the year, Bazooka Rocks II. PhilippineConcerts.com got a chance to have a little Q&A with the band’s drummer, Andrew Cook on BRF, the breakup, and the next big adventure:

    1. It’s been a few years since you were first here for LIV5 at the Ayala Malls. How do you guys feel about returning for Bazooka Rocks II and sharing the stage with so many of your fellow bands?

We are thrilled. It’s always fun to play with friends like All Time Low. The fans here are the best so we’re happy to be back.

    2. Pulp has strung together an amazing lineup of bands for tonight’s music fest. Which band’s set are you most excited for?

Probably Anberlin. Their drummer is really fun to watch.

    3. It’s quite a bittersweet experience for your Manila fans, mixing the excitement of seeing you again at Bazooka Rocks and the sadness of it being a farewell set. What is your message to all the fans who are coming to see you today?

Our message is quite simply thank you. Having a fanbase like the one we have here is something we’ve never dreamed of having. We are still in awe of the support here.

ON THE END OF AN ERA

    1. Fans everywhere were heartbroken by the news of ARTTM wrapping up a solid seven years of music together. What would you say is the main reason you decided it was time to bring this chapter of your lives to a close?

We just needed a chance to step away and clear our heads. Things didn’t go so well with this last record and it basically took the wind out of our sails.

    2. Over the years, you’ve seen the world and played countless shows. Looking back, if you each had to pick one moment that was the most memorable or meaningful to you, what would it be?

Last night when we walked onstage for the meet and great at Mall of Asia. I still have goosebumps from it.

    Japandroids Live in Manila Photos

    japandroids-live-at-hard-rock-makati

Japandroids showered its fans with a performance well worth the wait, the price of admission, and the trouble typhoon rains and wind brought just to see the critically-acclaimed indie rock band. Hard Rock Cafe filled up with fans who received the band with the same intensity as the weather they braved. Brian King and David Prowse delivered a tumultuous set only a power duo can pull-off.

Fans were treated to their favorites such as “Young Hearts Spark Fire, “The House that Heaven Built,” “Wet Hair,” “Younger Us,” and other tracks from both their albums Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock. Sharing vocal duties, King’s sharp-edged guitar work flowed along Prowse’s bedrock beats, administering a sonic dose for fans of high impact indie/garage/noise rock. Whatever you may call their sound, Japandroids truly is a force of nature.

    September 29, 6pm – Activity Center, Trinoma

A new kind of tide is set to hit Philippine shores this month. Since their inception in 1998, Christian rock band Relient K has toured around the globe. 15 years and nine albums later, they are finally stopping by our 7,107 islands. They’ve definitely come a long way from where they started in Ohio.

The band has been together for more than a decade and a half. In that span of time they’ve bagged a few awards and nominations, lost a few members, and of course, evolved as musicians. Those curious with the origin of their name, it stems from one of the vehicles of guitarist Matt Hoopes, a Plymouth Reliant K.

  • The Music Festival Survival Kit

    The Music Festival Survival Kit

Bazooka Rocks, Circuit Fest, Summer Slam, Wanderland, Summer Solstice… The Music Festival trend is certainly here to stay and it can be expected that they’ll only get bigger and better. Despite music festivals being a staple worldwide, it’s a relatively new concept in the local concert world and many first-time revelers are at risk of showing up unprepared.

Today we present to you the Music Festival Survival Kit: a list of essentials to help you enjoy those marathon music festivals without a hitch.

    11. Comfy clothes

Something to remember about dressing for concerts in general is that comfort is key. Leave the sparkly party dress at home, we guarantee you’ll regret wearing it with every fiber of your being when you’re being jostled about the crowd and all you can think about is the state your outfit will be in at the end of the show. • Lost in the Echo of Linkin Park

Lost in the Echo of Linkin Park

    Chester Bennington

After almost a decade of waiting, Linkin Park finally came back to Manila to conquer the Arena wherein thousands and thousands of manic LP fans screamed, jumped and rocked their souls with the band. Considered as one of the highlights of the Philippine concert scene this year, the show proved to be a riotous success as the Arena burst with multitudes of people from the moshpit up to the upper boxes. Without a shadow of doubt, the evening turned out to be one of the most unforgettable concerts that Manila had ever experienced.

Local band Urbandub was both thrilled and honored to open for LP. The Cebuano band performed “Soul Searching”, “The Fight Is Over” along with tracks off their new album “Esoteric”. Their last song for their set was “First of Summer” which had the excited crowd more psyched up.
