The GoodVybes Fest last February 20 kicked the 2016 concert season into high gear with high profile acts and their own brand of music festival experience.

Indie pop veterans Stars fired up the primetime slot with an emotionally-charged performance reminiscent of the Canadian band’s first foray with Filipino crowds three years ago. They raised the band high with danceable tunes such as “Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It” and laid them down with songs like “Your Ex Lover’s Dead”.

Oh Wonder, admitting it was their first time to play for a crowd of such size, brought the chill of their London-based sonic sensibiiities to the tropics, and brought the crowd some steady sounds with their hits “Drive” and “Without You”.

CHVRCHES erupted into the stage with the thump of their signature electropop, filling up the stage with an energetic performance for the crowd. It was a return performance for the band from a couple of years back, and they brought with them new material such as “Keep You On My Side” and gloriously finished with “The Mother We Share”.

Fresh from that high, the crowd was then, at last, blessed with Passion Pit on stage. Michael Angelakos sang his heart out to a frenzied Manila crowd with a flurry of hits “Little Secrets”, “Carried Away”, and capped off with “Sleepyhead”.

Various local acts were also in the foray of the music festival, as Kjwan, BP Valenzuela, and Moonwlk held their own with the headlining bands. As Pulp Summer Slam, Wanderland, Reggae Festival, Malasimbo Festival, Chroma Music Festival and Paradise IMF will be rolling out in the coming weeks and months, music fans are already looking forward to bigger and better vybes for next year.
