Experience the True Meaning of Christmas through Song and Dance with A Christmas Carol: The Musical

After their successful run of Green Day’s American Idiot, 9 Works Theatrical and Globe Live join forces again to fill the metro with the Christmas spirit as they present the long-running acclaimed show A Christmas Carol: The Musical from the award winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Alan Menken this holiday season.

Based on Charles Dickens’ beloved novella, A Christmas Carol: the Musical is the well-loved tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter miser who hates Christmas. Visited by three ghosts, Scrooge revisits his past and is given a glimpse of the world around him in the present and a prophecy of his future. This Charles Dickens classic is considered the quintessential Christmas story.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical first hit the Broadway stage on December 1, 1994. It was then performed for the next eleven years on a limited engagement every December from 1994 to 2003. It was then adapted as a television special by Hallmark Entertainment in 2004. The show was so influential that it paved the way for other shows to have limited engagements in the holiday season like A Christmas Story and Elf the Musical.

Much of the success of the show can be attributed to team of lyricist Lynn Ahrens and composer Alan Menken. Lynn Ahrens is the Tony Award-winning lyricist of Ragtime and a two-time Oscar nominee for her work in Anastasia. Her resume includes Once on This Island, Suessical, and Rocky the Musical. Alan Menken is a musical superstar with eight Oscar wins, eleven Grammy Awards, the Olivier Award and Tony Award for Best Original Score for Newsies. His resume includes Little Shop of Horrors, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and many more.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical is praised for its memorable and optimistic score, a trademark of Menken’s music. Lynn Ahrens is praised for her efforts in keeping the lyrics simple but unforgettable. The biggest draw of the first Broadway production back in 1994 was that it proved to be a true musical celebration — a spectacle of song and dance and a clear message about what Christmas is really about.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical stars theater veteran Miguel Faustmann as Ebenezer Scrooge, Ariel Reonal as Jacob Marley, Norby David as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Franz Imperial as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Ela Lisondra as the Ghost of Christmas Future, and introducing Rocco Buser and Dewayde Dizon as Tiny Tim.
