Manila to find a musical playground at Karpos Wanderland

The past couple of weeks set the local concert scene all abuzz as rising production house Karpos Multimedia released the announcement of a mysterious new music festival whose headliners had remained a secret to fans for days after.

Announcement day proved to be worth the wait as the organizers released a lineup of explosive proportions, making Karpos Wanderland the first music festival of its kind in Manila. The roster of international indie artists and colorful local acts paints a promising picture that will be for all to see on May 18th at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds.

Aussie indie rock band The Temper Trap will lead the pack at Karpos Wanderland. Recently coming from the Mylo Xyloto tour with superstar group Coldplay, the group that brought you indie anthems like “Sweet Disposition”, “Love Lost”, and “Gold” will soon be gracing the Philippine stage as the festival’s headliner.

This American alt rock band will be far from their hometown of Provo, Utah as they too hopped on the Wanderland bandwagon. Known worldwide for hits like “Everybody Talks” and “Animal”, Neon Trees will be sure to find a new home and a huge fanbase in Manila.

Many will recognize Nada Surf’s music as a favorite soundtrack choice on the hit TV show, One Tree Hill. Together with classics like “Popular”, the New York based group will also be bringing music from their new album,  The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy to Philippine shores for the festival.

Originally a solo project, Avalanche City has come a long way in only two years since its inception in 2011. The New Zealanders quickly climbed local charts, easily hitting the top spot in only a couple of weeks. Best known for the song “Love Love Love”, this is one group Manila is sure to fall in love with.

This cousin duo hails from Sydney, Australia, bringing refreshing synth and pop mixes with them. Filipino attendees who have yet to experience their chill take on indie pop can get a taste of “Perfect” and their other catchy tracks on their SoundCloud. Extra points for offering free downloads of their latest tracks!

Frontwoman Natalie Foster started out with a songwriting competition that sparked a career that would take her and her band to astounding heights. This Melbourne indie pop group is a promising addition to the Wanderland lineup.

Aside from international groups from all over the world, Karpos Wanderland will also be featuring local favorites like Up Dharma Down, Yolanda Moon, Pulso, and She’s Only Sixteen. Attendees can also expect exciting side activities like live art, paint, inflatables, and of course, band merchandise.

Wanderland has big plans in its first year, and those in attendance will be stepping into a musical and artistic playground as never seen before in Manila.

Grab your facepaint, feathers, and wayfarers, this is one indie event that’s sure to go down in Philippine concert history.
