Close Up Summer Solstice Philippines’ Largest Dance Music Festival

Surging to the forefront of mainstream tastes, Electronic Dance Music, better known as EDM, has amassed an infectious movement that has rapidly infiltrated the Philippines.

Last year David Guetta and Alesso rocked the MOA Arena, earlier this year Swedish House Mafia made a stop in the Philippines for their One Last Tour tour, and next month Avicii will make his second visit to the metro. Other DJs that have stopped over include Porter Robinson, R3hab, Dirty South, Dash Berlin, Ferry Corsten, and Alesso among others.

This April 27th, however, will see the largest EDM dance party that has ever rocked the country—because what’s better than partying with one international DJ? Seven.

AfroJack, Apster, Alex Gaudino, Cedric Gervais, Cobra Starship, Dev, the JumpSmokers, Sandwich, SpongeCola and UrbanDub will be summoning all music lovers, partygoers, adventure seekers, to the CloseUp Summer Solstice Music Festival for twelve hours of music, dance and fun.

From sunset to sunrise, the CloseUp Summer Solstice is 12-hours of non-stop music (4PM to 4AM) featuring the perfect mix of local flavor, mainstream hits, party-rocking beats, and remixes that will blow your mind—making it the must-go dance party of the summer.

Know more about the foreign artists who will perform at the Close Up Summer Solstice 2013 on April 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

Who better to headline an electronic dance music party than the man who can “Rock The House” himself—AfroJack. In less than two years, Afrojack has become one of electronic dance music’s major icons. From humble DJ beginnings in his native country of Holland, he has grown to become a multi-award winning, platinum-selling producer. With two Grammy Awards under his belt, Afrojack has collaborated with the likes of David Guetta (co-writing and producing the world-wide smash “Titanium”). In 2011 he co-wrote and produced “Give Me Everything” for Pitbull and Ne-Yo. Not to mention his work for Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)” & his Grammy nominated remix for Leona Lewis’ “Collide”.

His DJ sets have fast become both iconic and unparalleled, providing an explosive take on the current state of dance music across the board. In 2012 alone he began his North American “Jacked” tour with multiple sold out shows featuring his growing posse of Wall artists. On top of his own shows he headlined both EDC NY & Las Vegas to over 300.000 people, as well as the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Tomorrowland and many other major festivals throughout Europe. The CloseUp Summer Solstice will be another milestone for Afrojack, as he headlines the first dance music festival in the Philippines.

As the youngest DJ to ever get a residency at Paris’ Queen club, Cedric Gervais has been a mainstay in high profile clubs Liv in Miami and Marquee in Las Vegas. Dev Live in Manila (Bass Down Low)

A small town girl with a big city attitude might confuse people, but there’s no mistaking the voice of DEV as she is the voice behind “Like a G6,” “Bass Down Low,” “In the Dark” and you may recognize her voice from several of the Cataracs songs. As the only female act in the lineup, her talent is such that one is visually drawn to her performances, as they are audibly enchanted. This perfect mix puts DEV at an enigmatic distance while inviting people to dance with her, and she expects no less from you.
