Bazooka Rocks Festival 3: Two Days of Thrill

We’re close to the day of reckoning again as one of the highly anticipated pop-punk festival blasts off once again. Or should we say, “days” of reckoning? On its third year, Bazooka Rocks Festival is back with a louder and more vibrant lineup. To add to the thrill, it is extended for another whole day. This time, Pulp Live World tops their previous festivals by adding a more diverse set of acts including pop-punk, post hardcore/emo, an indie pop and even a metalcore band. On August 30 and 31 at the SMX Convention Center, get ready for a blast of music, fun and overall happiness as Bazooka Rocks Festival 3 is guaranteed to rock your socks off. Expect a curiously amusing set of attractions and games, with freebies and surprises attached to them.

Bazooka Rocks 3 Music Festival Schedule

The band lineup is divided into a specific grouping. For the first day, the more “veteran” post-hardcore bands are set to play (those that have been together since the early 2000s or even earlier). On the 2nd day, the “contemporary” pop-punk bands are set to thrill.

Read on for a short introduction of the foreign acts for the two days.

DAY 1: August 30, 2014
The 1st day is dominated by post-hardcore bands who were in the limelight in early to late 2000s. In the headlines are The Used and Taking Back Sunday who are known to be great friends with each other. They’ve toured and headlined shows together across America and certain parts of the world. Both bands have also performed in Manila on separate occasions in 2012.

The Used is a rock band formed in 2001, composed of Bert McCracken, Quin Allman, Jeph Howard and Dan Whitesides. They are known for songs like “Blue and Yellow”, “Taste of Ink”, “All That I’ve Got”, “I Caught Fire (In Your Eyes)” and more recently “Cry”. The band has just released their 6th studio album this April titled “Imaginary Enemy”.

Taking Back Sunday released their first album titled “Tell All Your Friends” in 2002, which turned out to be one of their most memorable albums until now. Their lineup has changed over the years since then, but the original TAYF lineup including Adam Lazzara, John Nolan, Eddie Reyes, Shaun Cooper and Mark O’Connell. Some of their trademark tracks include “Cute Without the E”, “You’re So Last Summer”, “A Decade Under the Influence”, “MakeDamnSure” and “Flicker, Fade”. They’ve released a total of 6 studio album, their most recent one titled “Happiness Is”.

Saves the Day was formed twenty years ago when the band members were still in high school. The pop-punk/emo band has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years with Chris Conley as the only mainstay member. They’ve released 8 studio albums to date.

Senses Fail is a post-hardcore/emo-screamo band from New Jersey. The current lineup includes Buddy Nielsen, Zack Roach and Matt Smith. The band has repeatedly played in Warped Tour since 2004 until 2012.

Day 2: August 31, 2014
The 2nd day provides an interesting mishmash of pop-punk bands headlined by You Me At Six.

You Me At Six is a British rock band composed of John Franceschi, Max Helyer, Chris Miller, Matt Barnes and Dan Flint. They gained recognition with the release of their debut album “Take Off Your Colors” in 2008. Their popular singles include “Save It for the Bedroom”, “Finders Keepers”, “Underdog” and “Fresh Start Fever”. They had also toured the US alongside Pierce the Veil and All Time Low.

We Are The In Crowd will be marking their 3rd visit to Manila this time. The pop-punk band has gained a steady fanbase here. Taylor Jardine, Jordan Eckes, Cameron Hurley, Mike Ferri and Rob Chianelli. They’ve released 2 studio albums to date– “Best Intentions” and “Weird Kids”.

Video: Exits and Entrances

The Summer Set is a pop-rock band formed in 2007 consists of vocalist Brian Dales on vocals, guitarists Josh Montgomery, Stephen Gomez and John Gomez, and drummer Jess Bowen. They have toured with bands like Yellowcard, All Time Low and Hey Monday.

Echosmith is an indie pop band composed of the Sierota siblings – Sydney, Jamie, Noah and Graham. Their 1st album “Talking Dreams” was released in October 2013. Despite their recent formation, they had already opened for Owl City and Neon Trees and played in the Warped Tour in 2013.

Coldrain is a Japanese metalcore band made up of Masato “David” Hayakawa on vocals, Yokochi on lead guitar, Kazuya Sugiyama on rhythm guitar, Ryo Shimizu on bass guitar and Katsuma Minatani on drums. Their songs are mostly in English. They’ve toured parts of Europe alongside Bullet for My Valentine.
