RHCP, Kaskade to Headline 7107 International Music Fest

Manila waited on tenterhooks for weeks as news of a new big-budget music festival began creeping around the internet. Following much speculation, anticipation, and swirling rumors, Team 7107 has finally put all the theories to rest with the release of the full lineup. 7107 International Music Festival is the first of its kind, bringing fans all the way out to Clark, Pampanga for what is sure to be a stellar performance from headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kaskade. Here’s a preview of things to come:

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, the Chili Peppers are a funk/rock band that stood the test of time. The group continues going strong since their inception in the early 80’s, proudly composed of its original members to this very day. Led by frontman Anthony Kiedis, Red Hot Chili Peppers is a living legend guaranteed to own the Philippine stage.

Kaskade

Headlining the second day of 7107 IMF is progressive house artist, Kaskade. The American DJ and producer has been making waves since 2001 and truly took over the Manila airwaves with his 2003 hit, It’s You, It’s Me. Newer projects include collaborations with fellow household names such as Skrillex, Lights, and Neon Trees. Kaskade takes the stage in Clark with a grown up sound and what’s sure to be a sick beat.

Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun is an electronic synthpop duo from Sydney, Australia. The award-winning Aussies are the artists behind one of the biggest dance anthems of the year, Alive. Known visually for their flamboyant costumes and videos, Empire of the Sun’s set shows much promise as a sensory wonderland.

Kendrick Lamar

26-year-old Kendrick Lamar may have been around since 2010, but 2012-13 was certainly a good year for the young rapper as his song Swimming Pools hit the 17 rank on the Billboard Hot 100. Soon after came millions of YouTube hits as he swept up several Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour shot into stardom back into 2008 when their song Around the Bend was chosen as the soundtrack to Apple’s iPod Touch commercial. The Danish pop group brings a quirky sound to 7107 with their bouncy beats and lead singer Mette Lindberg’s unique timbre.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

It’s only been a few months since we’ve seen these long-haired alt rockers at Bazooka Rocks II, but it’s definitely a safe bet that the Philippines will welcome them back with open arms. The band behind sing along-worthy songs like Face Down, Damn Regret, and Your Guardian Angel was almost a natural choice for Day 1 of 7107.

Natives

Natives is a relatively fresh group from the UK that brings a summery pop-rock sound to 7107. The band’s high energy beats and relate-able song themes are great for singing in the car on the way up to see them in Clark.

DJ Riddler

Richie Pangilinan a.k.a DJ Riddler spins for WKTU 103.5 over in New York City. The Filipino-American DJ also comprises one fourth of the dance music group, MYNT.

Reid Stefan

Reid Stefan is the latest addition to Island Def Jam’s roster of talented EDM artists. The 23-year-old launched his career by winning Calvin Harris’ Let Go contest back in 2012, jumpstarting his journey opening for artists like Krewella, Afrojack, and Calvin Harris himself.

Loads of local artists have also joined the 7107 roster, including Up Dharma Down, Kjwan, Radioactive Sago Project, Taken By Cars, and many more.
