In line with this mission, Kool Kat Productions Manila is bringing Boy Katindig’s Jazz movement “Where Jazz Lives” to its new venue, Centris Walk. A series of jazz performances by up-and-coming local jazz acts will take place at Centris Walk starting August 20 in preparation for the grand Jazz event in September 10. The initiative aims to promote world-class independent artistes and their original jazz music.
The small jazz performances will be on August 20, featuring John Ray with Jazz To Riches band; August 27 and September 9 with fusion/contemporary jazz band, Next Level featuring South Border’s drummer, Benjie “Bagets” Mendez, bassist, Marlowe Mata and up-and-coming young producer-songwriter, Bobby Velasco; and September 2 and 3 with Verve Project. Music plays from 7:00-11:00 pm. The small performances will be hosted and endorsed by International Filipino Jazz icon, Boy Katindig.
The grand full-day event, “Jazz at The Walk: The First Manila Artiste Festival,” will be held on September 10, 2011, Saturday, starting as early as 3:00 pm and will last until midnight. The event will feature named acts including Johnny Alegre, Aquarela and Boy Katindig as main artiste.
