MBC Show Champion to Hold its 200th Episode in Manila
Something good must be falling in the K-pop sky as Manila gets to be the official venue for the 200th episode of MBC Show Champion. On September 3, nine prominent K-pop acts are set to liven up the MOA Arena for a 3-hour show. Included in the spectacular line-up are BTS, VIXX, AOA and BAP amongst others.
Currently hosted by Kim Shin Young, the show, which is held weekly in Korea, features the top K-pop acts live with the latest singles ranked based on a precise point system. MBC Show Champion started airing in Korea on early 2012 and has since become a major avenue for upcoming and rising K-pop acts alike.
Here is a brief introduction to the acts that would be gracing the stage two weeks from now:

BTS – After recently closing their highly successful Epilogue tour, Bangtan Boys are set to come back to Manila again. Currently, the band is one of the top acts in the world of K-pop at present. Keep your eyes out for Rap Monster, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, light the stage on fire with their own brand of hiphop and their awe-inspiring choreography.

M&D – Short for “Midnight & Dawn”, M&D is composed of Super Junior’s Heechul and TRAX’s Jungmo. The pop-rock duo recently made a comeback on July with their playful trot-rock track “Ulsanbawi”.

VIXX – Known for their inclination for dark and outlandish concepts (vampires, cyborgs, voodoo, anyone?), the six-member boy group VIXX has established their status as one of the most sought after K-pop acts for their theatrical performance. See their leveled up “Fantasy” as they perform it in Manila.

VIXX – Fantasy

AOA – AOA (short for “Ace of Angels”) is one of the most popular girl groups in Korea. Having recently celebrated their fourth anniversary since their debut, the ladies of AOA have a track record for catching people’s attention with their sexy but cute demeanor. Some of their popular tracks include “Miniskirt”, “Heart Attack” and their latest “Good Luck”.

B.A.P. – Having made their debut in 2012, BAP has stood out for their tough hiphop beats in “Warrior”, “One Shot” and “Badman”. In 2016, however, they put a slightly brighter take on their music with the upbeat “Feel So Good” and “That’s My Jam”.

BAP – That’s My Jam

Sonamoo – This seven-member girl group is one act to look out for in the world of K-pop. Sonamoo, which means “pine tree” in Korean, initially debuted with a powerful/tough image. “Déjà vu” being their first single ever debuted at the top spot of the Gaon chart. Recently, the group has now transitioned into the lighter and more bubbly side of things with their catchy, colorful track “I Like U Too Much”.

소나무(SONAMOO) – 넘나 좋은 것 (I Like U Too Much)

KNK – KNK, which is read as “Knock” in English and as “keunakeun” in Korean, (meaning “to be great”) is a five-member idol group who made their debut on February 2016. Their music is an interesting mixture of ballads which transitions into dance tracks. This rookie group is out to show their style, so you better watch out for them.

KNK – Back Again

Astro – Another rookie boy group fast catching people’s attention is Astro with their bright pop hooks and cheery stages. The group just made their debut on February 2016, and they are surely making some waves.

Astro – Breathless

Gugudan – The biggest rookie out of all the acts is Gugudan, a nine-member girl group who made their debut just this June. However, some of the members have joined in the popular Mnet reality survival show “Produce 101”.

Gugudan – Wonderland

Don’t dare miss this rare opportunity to watch MBC Show Champion right in Manila, and get to witness all these awesome K-pop acts in one memorable evening.
