OneRepublic: One Unforgettable Tour

On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, American piano-rock band OneRepublic came to the Smart Araneta Coliseum for their Native tour. The concert not just went encore but turned to be a massive karaoke-fest for their fans. Well, who will never love singing with your favorite band after all? The night started out with a silhouette of  a 5-member band behind a large white curtain, Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown , Brent Kutzle and Eddie Fisher opened Native tour in Manila with Don’t Look Down.

The curtain dropped and the reaction of the crowd was priceless in the much awaited first appearance of the band on stage, the cello played and the the entire coliseum shook up. The third song of the night treated us to a brilliant performance of one of their hit songs Secrets and followed by All The Right Moves. Patron area was full, trying all the fans to rock their faces off as close to the stage as possible. It seemed that those chairs were unnecessary and OneRepublic had the audience on its feet the whole show.

Crowd favorites and the loudest moments were Stop and Stare and their latest single Counting Stars. Everyone sang along and dancing on their feet at Smart Araneta Coliseum

Ryan Tedder set an unwavering powerhouse vocals dishing out a solid performance. He was by any means apologetic for keeping their followers waiting for years. He also said that they want to go back next year for another if possible two-night concert. Aside from showing his vocal skills, he did not forget to appreciate their Filipino followers about being naturally inborn and musically inclined human being, giving a concert centerpiece stressing Filipino vocals smashing their hit song Apologize with little experimentation to create extraordinary moments with mash-up of Rihanna’s We Found Love” and Coldplay’s Yellow. The crowd was so game and participated on this set.

Another thing to be noted was the sound; it’s perfect and very clear. There’s nothing to complain about, this prominent pop-rock band was very efficient, and apparently effortless in every way during their performance. The show was undeniably entertaining because of the lads labor of love and motivation to perform well. The experience was surprisingly breathtaking.

He kept going and running all over the Big Dome’s stage for the majority of the 90- minute show with other hits that included Burning Bridges, Preacher and Good Life. The band knew exactly what the crowd wanted. However, one of my favorite parts of the night was at the very end when they performed Feel Again and If I Lose Myself. The Big Dome became a sing along venue as the confetti exploded. The spirit of the crowd was unexplainable and Ryan Tedder was able to maintain his perfect vocals throughout the show. He’s truly an exceptional vocalist.

Hopefully, Manila will not have to wait for another 4-5 years visit because the show was phenomenal. Even for a night, OneRepublic became native in our land and performed a show will cherish forever.

Be that as it may, the show made a remarkable, enormous and superb night for the OneRepublic devotee. Next time don’t Apologize, Loose yourself and rock out with OneRepublic
