The Voice Shakes It Up for Season 4

Coaches Usher and Shakira replace Christina and Cee Lo in same-week premiere as US

voice-season-4-pic

What’s better than one season of The Voice per year? That’s right – two seasons in 12 months! Hot on the heels of a compelling Season 3 which crowned Team Blake’s Cassadee Pope as winner, the new season coming in April 1, 2013 (Monday) 8.10PM exclusively on AXN is guaranteed to shake things up in a big way.

During the finale, the coaches’ tender rendition of Green Day’s ‘Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)’ struck a chord with many fans, and finally set the coaches’ exit in stone for the next season. Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are taking a brief respite from the show for career commitments, while R&B superstar Usher and the Latina, hip-shaking Shakira will step in to fill the void. An interesting change indeed, especially with Usher who did have the foresight to sign on Justin Bieber, one of the decade’s most successful teen pop stars. The talented Shakira would also be juggling motherhood and her new TV stint, having just given birth to a beautiful baby boy named Milan.

What would the chemistry be like between old-timers Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, and the newbies Usher and Shakira? After all, one of the selling points of The Voice has been the easy banter among the old foursome, beyond the bromance between Adam and Blake, and the competing wardrobe between Christina and Cee Lo, both outlandish in their own ways. Lending a clue to the new team’s dynamics is the latest US promotional trailer for Season 4, where Adam and Blake pick up the new coaches (and make them sit in the back), squabble over the choice of radio stations, and end up with them all singing along to the corny ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’.

Keane’s Take Their First Step to our Strangeland

Keane’s Takes Their First Step to our Stangeland

By: Sandra Laureano

They are finally here, and the world knows we have waited a long time. Keane, the British alternative band that introduced the finely melodic tunes of “Somewhere Only We Know”, “Everybody’s Changing” and “This Is the Last Time”, takes their first step in Manila. They are slated to take on the MOA Arena tonight.

With four successful albums released, the band had definitely gone a long way from being just another English band. With Tom Chaplin on vocals, Tim Rice-Oxley on piano/keyboard, Richard Hughes on drums and the recent and special addition of Jesse Quinn on bass, Keane’s music continues to make milestones in the world of music.

In good humor and quick quips on the depth and quality of their music, they graced the press with their candid yet sincere answers.

How would you define your music as “Keane”?

Richard: “The thing that ties us together is our songs tend to be very melodic, really emotionally honest, and very much about us. We’re not very interested in being cool, or being in fashion, or playing any kind of game. or trying to be popular.”

What makes Strangeland different from all previous albums?

Jesse: “I suppose, it’s partly because of me, I guess. It’s probably the best album.”

(Everyone in the band laughs.)

He continues, “This one is the first Keane album where everyone played together in a group, as a band, rather than layering things up…It is the most true to what Keane really is like.”

Tim: “It was all about breaking out of our little town, where we grew up and seek our fortunes and doing something with our lives. Strangeland is about reflecting on where we’ve got to, part is looking back and thinking out what we were dreaming of and whether we’ve achieved that.”

How would you like to be remembered?

What’s next for Season 3 of The Voice?

Tweaks and other surprises in Season 3 now revealed

Clinching four Emmy nods certainly bodes a good beginning to the premiere of the brand new season of The Voice, coming to AXN  on September 16 (Sunday) at 8pm. Winning the show’s first ever nod in the ‘Outstanding Reality Competition Program’ category makes The Voice the only music reality series to be nominated in the category, beating out rival show American Idol, the first time in 10 years Idol has been left off the ballot!

In 2011, the novel vocal talent reality series first made waves in the entertainment industry with its refreshing approach to sieving musical talents – by having the four on spinning red chairs, back-faced to the talents so that all they can rely on are their ears. Now in its third season, the highly popular reality series continues to be helmed by host Carson Daly, as well as the four charismatic and surprisingly competitive coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, and their sizzling chemistry to boot!
